Toby McFarland Baseball & Softball Academy

Spring Training Academy at The Lab begins March 16.

All skill levels are welcome. This program is designed for players who want to continue their baseball careers beyond high school, as well as those looking to build strong fundamental skills to be more confident and effective for their Little League teams this season. Players will receive quality instruction in a structured, supportive environment focused on proper mechanics, effort, and accountability.

Pitching instruction will include mechanical development, field coverage and pickoff moves, age-appropriate pitch development, pitch sequencing, and developing velocity through efficient use of the kinetic chain.

Defensive training will focus on proper mechanics, footwork, throwing action, and situational positioning.

Hitting instruction will cover swing mechanics, approach at the plate, and bunting, with an emphasis on developing bat speed through efficient use of the kinetic chain.

All sessions will be video recorded and shared with families to support at-home drills and provide insight into what each player is learning.

Congratulations Ryan!! Over the past 7 years I’ve watched you spend more time at The Lab than anyone. You are a true representative of the phrase “Work when they’re not working”. I’ve watched you pass up so many players just by out working them. I still laugh when I think of you trying to learn to throw a curveball, or your crazy long swing. Or how about you loosing your mind in frustration that one night 6 years ago when you were struggling in the cage. I’m most impressed with how you put the extra time into your academics in order to make this dream come true. You have grown in every way possible during this part of your journey. You have EARNED this buddy 👊🏼🇺🇸

Ryan Pearl, CMHS senior, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Point Park University (Pittsburgh, PA) beginning in Fall 2025 to continue his education while also competing at the NCAA Division II level as a member of the Pioneers baseball team.
