Sutherland leads boys tennis Dream Team MAPLE CITY — Glen Lake junior Hawthorn Sutherland claimed the 2025 boys tennis Player of the Year honors after paving his way through the season, despite a hand injury.

The D3 State Tennis Tournament showcased deep competition. Our Petoskey tennis team competed with heart and determination, representing PHS with class and skill. Though our tournament run ends after day one, we’re incredibly proud of what this group accomplished. It was a memorable season with outstanding young men who exemplified what it means to be a Northmen. 💙🤍💙

The Petoskey Boys Varsity Tennis program has built something special – a legacy of winning that spans nearly two decades. Tomorrow, for the 17th year in a row, we’ll compete at the state level. No matter what happens on the court, these boys have already succeeded in carrying forward a tradition of excellence for another year. Let’s go box! 💙🤍💙

Join us tomorrow as we honor our seven Seniors! Brian Tang, Clark Tarachas, Cole Willison, Martin Howard, Danny Murphy, Zealan Abbitt and Cullen Neal. The varsity players will then scrimmage against PHS alumni as they prepare for States later this week. Senior honors at 5:15, scrimmage starts at 5:30.

This team continues to come together, especially when it counts. On to our 17th consecutive State Tournament!
