This morning I really did not want to get up at 5:55 a.m. even though this is the habit that I've been wanting to break. I've been doing pretty well and getting up consistently and doing my 15 minutes to fulfillment, and even though today I felt like I had enough sleep I still didn't want to get out of bed and "do the thing".

What finally got me out of bed was letting myself off the hook and not "doing the thing" but instead I would journal. "I GET to journal," was the thought. In my journaling about why I didn't want to get up even though I had the motivation, I came to the conclusion my issue was with VARIETY.

The belief was that CONSISTENT means DOING THE SAME THING, but that's actually NOT TRUE. I didn't want to get up because I didn't want to do "the same thing" - it felt monotonous! Then I realize that 15 minutes to fulfillment wasn't doing the SAME thing, but doing SOMEthing that was 1) Healthy and 2) would raise my Mental State.

HEALTHY MENTAL STATE. That's the key!

So I made a small list of things I do during my hour of power thou would contribute to a healthy mental state. Even though I always hear Tony say "Take what's works and leave the rest," I still find myself always trying to do EXACTLY what he says. And this is where I have been going wrong! So I wanted to write this today to inspire anyone who may be going through the same thing and make a suggestion:

Make a small list of multiple things you could do to support a healthy mental state first thing in the morning. And remember...

You don't have to do the SAME thing, you just have to do SOMEthing!

Happiness is a Risk, Guilt is Safe

I came across this concept recently reading a book by called “Let go of the Guilt.” I often say “happiness is a choice” but, for many, it’s also a risk. If you’ve ever experienced heartbreak from a loved one, it’s easy to make this connection. You convince yourself that you should’ve known better. You should’ve seen the signs; there were so many red flags! Guilty. I deserve to be miserable because _____ (fill in the blank). Your brain will give you a reason for why you deserve to be miserable. Guilty. I’ll never let anyone get that close again. Guilt is safe.

Or maybe you lost someone close to you. If you hadn’t been a part of their life, maybe they would still be here. Guilty. If you would’ve done MORE, tried harder, maybe they would’ve tried harder. Guilty. God wants you to suffer because _____ (fill in the blank). Your brain will give you a reason for why you deserve to be unhappy. But, just because you have a thought, doesn’t make it true. Guilt is just the Enemies way of trying to steal your joy. Don’t let him win!

Guilt is SAFE because as long as you stay there, there’s less of a chance of being disappointed in the future. And, if someone does disappoint you, that fall won’t be as steep as it would should you be brave enough to fully embrace the possibility of experiencing joy again.

Happiness is a RISK. If you move past the guilt, change you mind, and allow yourself to be happy again there’s a risk that the fall will be too great. The thing is, it’s in our nature to want to be happy. And even if we stay sad, it doesn’t make it easier when we get hurt again. It doesn’t. That’s why I choose to fully embrace happiness in every form! Take that compliment! Learn the lesson, figure out how to avoid those not meant for you and embrace love fully when it comes to you! See heartbreak as a lesson, not as a punishment. Take the RISK! Love more! Be HAPPY! You deserve it.
