Boxing Nutrition - Vegan Thai Green Curry 🌱🇹🇭🥊
For most boxers, making the weight is sometimes the hardest part of Boxing. Equally what most people don’t know about me is that every Monday I don’t eat meat. I was once told by one of my vegan friends that it’s better for the environment and helps animals 🤷♂️ I’ve been doing this for roughly two years and some of the benefits have been great.
One thing I’ve found to be a really good vegan meal is a vegan thai green curry. It can be a nutritious addition to a boxer’s diet, providing carbohydrates for energy, plant-based protein and a variety of vitamins and minerals.
🥊 Rice provides carbohydrates that help replenish muscle glycogen stores, particularly important after intense training sessions, sparring or conditioning work.
🥊 Chickpeas can provide valuable protein to support muscle repair and recovery following demanding training.
🥊 Broccoli , peppers and spinach provide essential micronutrients that support normal bodily functions and overall health.
🥊 Coconut milk provides fat, which contributes to energy intake and helps the body absorb fat-soluble vitamins. however, it can also be high in saturated fat, so portion size matters.
A well-balanced vegan thai green curry can provide a combination of carbohydrates, protein and fats to help meet the nutritional demands of boxing such as training, weight making and competing. Particularly for boxers that follow a vegan lifestyle.
Remember performance nutrition isn’t about one magic meal. it’s about consistently fuelling your body to support training, recovery and long-term health.
