Amos Playground

Our campers at Amos Playground have gone fishing! We took a nice cool day to sink our lines in the Fish Hatchery overlooking the Delaware River. The helpful staff there gave the campers the chance to hone their skills in catch-and-release fishing. The blue-gill and Small-mouth bass we caught put smiles on our faces!

As Summer Camp is soon coming to a close, our campers at Amos Playground couldn't wait to show off their clothes! Our young superstars were ecstatic to strut their stuff, representing their individual styles and personalities through their self designed fits and costumes.

The February 8th Teen Rap Session was a success. Approximately 20+ male teenagers got a chance to break bread and talk with numerous successful black men from the Philadelphia area. There was plenty of food, giveaways, and networking. The men shared experiences and life advice with everyone there. Men such as:
-Tone Love, of the 80's hip hop group "Tuff Crew", who's music still dominates the dance clubs today.
-Anthony Martin, who owns & operates the "Urban Youth Racing School" in South Philly, introducing youth to the world of NASCAR & motorsports.
-Alex Sharp, a photographer who just received a large contract from the city.
-Rodney Walker, operates a mentoring non-profit.
-there was also a designer of unique leather & fur items, a representative from the school district, and an entrepreneur who has operated in philly for over 40years.
A good time was had by all.

Parks & Rec works to provide a safe and welcoming experience for all site users. During winter storms, our crews are initially deployed to help support citywide efforts to clear streets and roads.

We also work to clear as soon as possible the areas of and make safe the paths at our recreation centers and trails.

We prioritize those facilities with programs, such as older adult centers and recreation centers with afterschool programs.
