I love this scene in Emily in Paris, Season 3, where Sylvie is questioning whether or not to go work for another firm after having a rough start getting her new agency off the ground…
Julien talks about the benefits of working for a bigger company; PTO, benefits, etc…
Then Sylvie asks Luc what he thinks and after a pause, he tells her stick to her guns. He believes in her and what they’re doing and he reminds her that this isn’t supposed to be easy 🔥
Sometimes as entrepreneurs with ADHD we get frustrated when things aren’t “easy” right away.
Which leaves room for us to doubt ourselves! And question if the path we’re on is right for us…
Next time you find yourself frustrated when something in your business ISN’T EASY, remember that being an entrepreneur isn’t supposed to be easy!!

HERE’S HOW I STOPPED FEELING SHAME ABOUT ADHD PROCRASTINATION ⤵️
First I shifted my mindset from *why am I like this* (ADHD, hi 🙃)
To *this is literally how my brain is wired, what can I learn to make things easier for me?*
Then I searched for strategies that addressed the executive function skills that were making me procrastinate so much...
👉 Like how to get started on a project even when I didn’t feel like it (task initiation)
👉 How to actually make up my mind about something in my business and keep moving (decision-making skills)
👉 How the heck to know which task to do first when starting my day (prioritization)
👉 And how to not let something tiny upset me and derail my whole day (emotional regulation)
When I fixed those and got a grip on how much I was procrastinating, my confidence soared and shame dissolved 🫶
Yes, it took time and hard work but that’s it.
I used to think this ADHD procrastination thing would never go away, but I was wrong.
Since implementing these strategies I’ve grown my business from just a dream, to a side hustle, to my full-time focus and main source of income…
My life would look veryyy different today if I never learned how to get control of my procrastination!

Fun fact: RISK TAKING is a very common quality in people with ADHD!

How I went from being a huge procrastinator to now being able to start my work when I want to (not just when my ADHD brain is finally in the mood 😜) ⤵️
I used to beat myself up so badly for dilly dallying around and not being able to get *started* on things when I *should*…
🫣 I can’t even count how many times I finished up my homework while I was in school during homeroom (probably every day)
🫣 I still feel the stress of finishing up this super important work powerpoint 5 minutes before my meeting (from like 2018 lol)
And sure, sometimes I still procrastinate!! But luckily now, it’s only with boring stuff like my laundry (IYKYK!)…
What I’ve realized in the past 20 years of learning about ADHD and testing strategies to manage it, is that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to beating ADHD procrastination.
That’s because it actually involves managing a whole lotta symptoms at the same time!
It involves things like…
👉 Being more organized
👉 Knowing how to prioritize my daily tasks
👉 Regulating my emotions better so they don’t get the best of me & derail my day
👉 Feeling more confident
👉 And definitely knowing how to break big projects into more manageable steps!!

If you want to teach your ADHD brain how to *do the thing* when you want it to so you can stop re-writing the same to-do list day after day…
You have to learn how to START without relying our your executive functions…those mental processing skills that us ADHD’ers don’t really have!
Ya see, executive functions are mental processing skills that normies rely on to easily manage everyday tasks like problem solving, making plans, and…starting tasks!
