As we have previously shared during our last event on February 28th, 2026, Philly Westie will no longer be running monthly west coast swing socials.

Over the past several years, it has been an absolute joy to organize and host West Coast Swing socials in Philadelphia. Our goal was simple: to create a welcoming space where dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels could learn, connect, and enjoy West Coast Swing together. Philly Westie was a volunteer-run effort dedicated to bringing more social dancing opportunities to the city, and the enthusiasm and kindness of the community made that mission incredibly rewarding.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported us along the way, our volunteers, DJs, teachers, venue partners, and especially the dancers who showed up month after month to share the floor with us.

While Philly Westie will not be hosting additional events for the time being, the Philadelphia-area West Coast Swing community is still active and thriving, and we strongly encourage dancers to continue supporting other local events and organizations.

Our website will remain active for the time being as a platform to find these other local events through our shared Community Calendar and other relevant resources.

Thank you again to everyone who made this community special. We’re proud of what we built together and grateful for every dance we shared.

In support of collective action and using our voices and resources to support vulnerable groups, tonight’s social dance will be Pay-What-You-Wish and all proceeds from tonight’s dance will be donated to Juntos (vamosjuntos.org) and to AAU’s Collective Immigration Solidarity Fund (aaunited.org). 

We will continue to be a safe space for any and every dancer in our community.

Philly Westie is a monthly West Coast Swing social dance open to dancers of all levels, backgrounds, and walks of life! If you’ve never tried west coast swing before, we’ve got you! Join us at 8PM for a complimentary Beginner Crash Course that will have you ready to hit the dance floor and party the rest of the night away!

**Important reminder: even with the cooler weather, it still gets WARM while dancing! Please bring a reusable water bottle, change of clothes, small face towel, deodorant, and anything else you think you may need to be comfortable and safe while dancing!! Remember to stay hydrated and hygienic so everyone can have a fun time!

We’ve got a special workshop planned for anyone interested in adding a new dance style to their repertoire – our friends at Concierge Ballroom will be hosting a very special “Hustle for Westies” workshop to introduce the ins and outs of The Hustle. This workshop requires knowing the basics of WCS and attendees will be given a discount code for the upcoming day of workshops with Erica Smith on October 11th, hosted by Concierge Ballroom!
