“All mistakes teach us something, so there are, in reality, no mistakes.” - Nikki Giovanni
Or as Miles Davis famously said “There are no mistakes - it’s what you play next.” This sums up a HUGE shift in my thinking and development as an AT teacher and human.
Being fearful to make a mistake is crippling and stunts growth. Period.
When we realize “mistakes” are merely information we turn straw into gold - true alchemy!!
What mistakes have you learned from?
Some may be big, and other quite small - yet all are gems.

I’m off on holiday to celebrate with friends and family and explore new natural and cultural vistas - I’m so grateful for the time off to reset and refresh - and equally grateful to come home and return to work that is rich, rewarding and nourishing to my soul.
Good rest makes good work! I pledge to return on June 25th bright eyed and ready to go with a renewed spirit and new insights from my travels.

I’ve been lucky to have numerous, hugely impactful, generous mentors in my lifetime.
Here I am with Douglas Dunn, dancer, choreographer, teacher and friend to me since I studied with him at Harvard Summer Dance in 1981 - it’s kinda wild to follow someone’s work for 45 years!
Studying with Douglas was a huge, pivotal moment in my development as a choreographer - His work has been provoking and delighting me for 45 years.
To see him and his lovely wife Grazia still dancing on stage with grace and honesty moved me to tears - Thank you for doing what you do ❤️👍

The end of the academic year is always a bittersweet moment -The satisfaction of such rewarding work, the shared discoveries, the gleeful triumphs and small steps of progress - it’s always hard to say farewell to those who are graduating and moving on…
Yet I also I savor the rhythm of an academic year that gives me time to slow down, and welcome the opportunity to downshift.
Pictured are a few gifts that my students brought on their last day of lessons for the year - my heart is full

“We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious.” - Walt Disney
Curiosity is everything! It is the key to how FM made his discoveries and the “secret sauce” to learning how to make good use of Alexander’s work
If we have a strong habit of seeing doors as barriers, we lose so much potential…
What doors will you go through today?
How will you let your curiosity show up and what will it teach you?

Another shoutout to the AT Phila follower who asked me about the Hyoid bone - did you watch y reel above about the hyoid bone?
Here’s a picture of my Center City skeletal model that does have a hyoid bone…
See it hiding underneath the chin?
Take a moment to locate yours…
Gently place your thumb and forefinger on either side of your jaw bone -Then slide your thumb and forefinger diagonally down and in towards each other - Find the small, horseshoe-shaped bone that you can toggle back and forth behind your chin - Voila!
Next notice what happens when you reach your chi forward in space - kinda hard to toggle your hyoid bone back and forth, huh? Now notice what happens to your air and what happens to your tongue
Next gently slide your ead back in space until it’s comfortably over your base so that your hyoid bone can hang freely and restore freedom to your airay and tongue…
Ahhhhh - much better!
