Sharing this on behalf of my amazing aunt. Friends and Family:
I’m reaching out to share about someone very special to me. My dear friend Susan, who I’ve known for 60 years, is facing a serious medical challenge right now. She has Stage 4 kidney disease that has developed over time due to prescription medication she took for another illness many years ago. Her doctor has advised she pursue a kidney donor to race against her declining condition and save her life.
Watching someone you care about go through something like this reminds you just how precious life and good health truly are, and how blessed we are to have each other. Susan has always helped others - whether it’s comforting someone, volunteering her time, or quietly supporting those who have less. She’s always been there for me, and now it’s my turn to help her.
The best chance she has is to find a live donor kidney from people aggressively spreading the word about her challenge. Here is a link to her profile webpage with the National Kidney Registry at www.NKR.org/YNZ844 to read about her story and to learn more information about kidney donation.
If you or someone you know can help, please share this link to her story

What an incredible weekend ! Started with hearing Michael Johnson speak, meeting and chatting with some racers at the run club leader breakfast (how cool it was to meet whose family I sat behind today! who spent at least an hour at my table; he was so enjoyable and down to earth; so cool to meet you guys!
I was lucky enough to attend both yesterday and today!
HIGHLIGHTS:
(1) , and setting up their blocks for the 200. I think Kenny is holding a bible in his hand!
(2) and dominating
(3) Spotting the big dawgs on my run yesterday (I may have traveled under the bridge to the Ott Center for this):
(4) - what a star! I only have shots from behind due to where I was sitting, but look at those block starts!
(5) Wishing good luck just before he was about to get on the hotel elevator and then waving to in the lobby
(6) Watching those guys duke it out in the 800 and 1500 along with who is incredibly stylish and handsome, , ,
(7) The awe-inspiring
THANK YOU to all of the racers and challengers for coming to Philadelphia and for gifting us inspiration and pride.

On April 15th, our Surge running family lost a member (John Ben Flexner, 2nd from left), two years after running the Boston Marathon and about 1 year after being diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer called EHE. Please join us in the fight against cancer by (1) coming out for our EHE Fun Run on Tuesday 5/20 at 6:30 PM at Temple’s track (13th and Master), and/or (2) donating to our team page. John recorded 1,965 runs on Strava, so our fundraising goal is $2,000! Let’s do this!

Pictured is my late, legendary, and beloved high school Cross Country and Track & Field coach officiating at the Penn Relays, which was just one of the many ways in which he contributed to the running community in Philadelphia and beyond. What better way to kick off this year’s than to announce the ’s campaign to honor Coach Fred Rosenfeld. Funds raised in Fred’s memory will be used to put up a plaque in his memory in the Jewish Museum. The goal is to raise $30,000 in his honor and every gift helps. The museum will have a special reception in the fall for everyone who helped make the campaign successful. I would be so honored if you joined me to make a gift. https://theweitzman.org/fred-rosenfeld
