e important aspects of life, they also educate their players on the value of education. Team Philly was originally built around 2 players, Kyle Lowry and Shane Clark. With the addition of a few good players, the team participated in some of the best tournaments in the country. Their most outstanding achievements came when they won the fall Hoop Group Tournament and the Rumble in the Bronx with only 5 players. Team Philly also went on the win the Mid-Atlantic Regional’s to qualify for the 16 and under National Tournament. The following year Team Philly introduced a second team. The players from the year before moved up the 17 and under team they added a 16 and under team. The 17 and under team with the addition of some of Philly’s best players such as Antoine “Doo Dirty” Brown, Marshall Taylor (LaSalle), and Rob Kurz (Norte Dame), Team Philly continued to put Philadelphia basketball back on the map. They won the Speice Run N’ Slam (defeating the Family of Detroit featuring NBA player Shaun Livingston), winning the Adidas Three Strip Tournament. They advanced to the sweet 16 of the Adidas Super 64 and finished 5th in the boys 17 and under National Tournament. In 2006 both teams went to the finals of the Adidas Super 64 tournament and both fell short of the championship. In 2010 Team Philly’s Class of 2012 squad won the Fab 48 Showcase Tournament in Las Vegas. Team Philly never quits. Attitude, tenacious defense and team play has made Team Philly’s players some of the most sought after in the country. Team Philly has also become one of the most watched teams at these tournaments. Threw the years, Team Philly have produced over 40 College Student-Athletes, about 5 overseas professionals and 2 NBA Players. In the near future they plan on keeping up the success of this program. Every year the torch is passed down to new players who will then be responsible for representing the program and city of Philadelphia. They’re more than just a basketball team, they’re a FAMILY…
