Nightmare 18u Purple Nationals

I have to post this, I like to call this team the rag tag team,, and they earned it this weekend. winning all 5 games in the 100 plus heat .. Sunday they did it with just 9 ladies, so no rest for anyone.. back to back wins, believe me when I tell you. It may have only been 2 games but in that heat, it felt like 3 or 4... Way to gut it out, stay focused, move on from metal mistakes and do what you should have done.. took care of business... This team is so much fun (most of the time)

Twas the night before Christmas on all on the fields, not a creature was stirring not even Karli Haines ,
The equipment was all packed , with the hopes that spring would soon be back. ,
The girls were all nestled all snug in their beds with visions of championships running through their heads ,. With coach Paul , Coach Joe, all snug in their caps had just settled down for a long winters nap , .
When out on the field there arose such a clatter , We sprung from our beds to see what was the matter,
And then to our wallets we all flew like a flash,
tore them open quickly to get out, our Nightmare's fee's cash,
The sun on the breast on new fallen day,
Gave the feeling of softball on a new summer day,
When what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But Beth, Brooke & Sam on some tiny reindeer.,
With a little old driver so lively and quick,
I new in a moment it must be that Karissa Turk ??,
More rapid than Eagles his courses they came,
and he whistled and shouted and called them all by name,
Now ,, Talia, Allison & Sarah,
On Dani, & Sierra, you all play together now.
From the top of the inning and over the wall,
Now bash away, bash away, bash away all.,
As dry leaves before the hurricane sore,
When they meet with obstacles, Gabby & the Nightmare will roar.,
So out to the field as a team they flew,
With a bag of equipment and some cool drinks to,.
and then in a twinkle I heard near a base,
Oh man I just slid wrong and messed up my face.,
As we drew in our head and was turning around,
But there was St. Nick laying on the ground.,
He was dressed in fur from his head to his foot,
and his clothes were all tarnished with dirt, grass and soot.,
And a bundle of bats he had thrown on his back,.
He looked like a peddler just opening his sack,.
His eyes - how they twinkled, his dimples how merry,
He said I know your opponents you soon,, will bury,.
His droll little mouth was drawn like a bow,
More championships you'll win & that We know.,
The stump of his pipe he held in his teeth,
In some tournaments I know you girls, the Nightmare, you will sweep,.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
that shook when he laughed , like a bowl full of jelly,.
He was chubby and plump, a right old jolly elf,
And NO!! ,, I'm not talking about myself,.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
let me know then, the Nightmare had nothing to dread,.
He spoke not a word but went straight to his work,.
and said Coach Paul, don't go berserk !,.
And laying his finger along side of his nose,
Said listen to Coach Joe, patience HE knows,.
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team he gave a whistle,.
And to the girls on the Nightmare he said ,, I hope this will,.
Make you fight, play and believe in each other,. Merry Christmas to all, and be teammates forever,.
cause friend ships are great and feel so right,.
again MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL , AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT.

Gems Nationals in Maryland 2017

So just to answer all the questions ... Yes, I was "voted" out as the head coach of the Gems 18u Black team last night by "The Committee" as of July 31st ,, This committee that gave me, my assistant coaches, the players parents or most Importantly, the players themselves any say in the matter what so ever... You may hear different reasons as to why but here's the truth. In January I informed the commisioner that, I would be stepping down as coach but WE needed to find a suitable replacement for the 9 girls I would have been returning. So as January melted in March, April, May, I realized I was getting nowhere in finding this replacement so I started figuring, I would remain on so these girls had a coach, team and at minimum another year together. Well I guess me deciding to come back was not in the plans of the "committe" so they decided We were out.. So now I have 9 girls who want to continue to play, but not for this organization who, I gave 9 years of fall weekends, summer weekends and countless hours of practice, to just be let go like this.. So if anyone knows of a good team looking for some real good players.. please let me know,, or post a request for a tryout on here and I will let them know.. I really hate to see what's happening here and I really hope "daddy ball" is not where their heading??? I know this for sure.. as long as Chris, Scott, Mike, Rich, Joe and myself were running this team,, DADDY BALL was never an Issue, and we all had daughters on the team at some point in time,, multiple daughters at that,, and never once did any of our parents complain about the way we ran things. I was then informed that THEY may have found a coach for our girls but I guess since We didn't agree with their decision, We got this.. WE, together were supposed to find the coach, not just them. I wanted to know who the person was before hand so If we liked the decision, I would have had that person out to a couple of our practices so we could get to know them as well as the girls getting to know, them as well, so the transition would have been a smooth one.. but when they want to replace us with a 12u or 14u coach (or so we hear), that's not what we wanted..I'm not saying these guys can't coach but,, it is a very different game between 12's ,, 14's and 18's,, When we came up we did 2 years of 12's,, 2 years of 14's a year of 16's and then 18's.. we didn't just jump, we learned ALOT along the way.. Sorry if I sound a little bitter but when you put this much time, effort, heart into something and then your just expandable.. I am .. So anyway.. I would like to thank all those coaches for the great times we had and the parents for all your support throughout the past 9 seasons and of course ALL the players who I have had the privelage of coaching, you made these last 9 years so fun for me... thousands of GREAT memories, and I would not change a thing about any of them ,, except 1.. maybe I would not have Informed the Committe I was reisignng if I knew I would be let go even though I decided to stay on and help these girls,, but whatever... So to our team as of now.. like I said,, PLEASE don't let this effect the fun week we have ahead at Nationals... we'll go out and play hard and END THIS OUR WAY.. And to the whole Gems family THANK YOU!!!!!
