Founded in 2004, the Friends of Morris Park (FoMP) is a community-based, all-volunteer association de Founded in 2004 by the Gasiewski brothers.

Their mission was to return this 147 acre park back to its native state. They were the first group to approach Morris Park with a unified plan for the care and maitenance of the whole park since the 1930's when the WPA (The Works Progress Adminastration) were the tenders. These lovely Villanova students joined us for Day of Service 9/20/25 & we were able to accomplish so much!

🌳Multiple bags full of trash
🌳Furniture items removed
🌳Fallen trees removed from the trails
🌳Weeds along the path trimmed
🌳 Dumped organic material moved from path

The park is looking refreshed and our community is grateful. Thank you for your continued support in keeping Morris Park alive and thriving. 💚

THIS SATURDAY: Villanova Day Clean Up at Morris Park

Villanova Day in Philadelphia is an annual event organized by Villanova University and involves students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families coming together to participate in community service projects throughout the Philadelphia area. Named after the university’s patron saint, St. Thomas of Villanova, who was known for his charity and dedication to helping the poor, this day of service is one of the largest single-day community service initiatives in the Delaware Valley. It's a significant event that reflects the university's commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.

Activities:
- Painting the shed
- Pulling knotweed
- Trim & open up trails
- Clear out pond
- Trash pick up along perimeter
- Moving Logs
& Whatever else is needed

We are very grateful for the students who volunteer to help us with our mission. We could use all the assistance we can get so that this land can continue to serve the community of Overbook!

We will be tackling trash, clearing the trails, trimming bushes and trees etc. Tools and gloves provided.
We want to get to know our community better so come on out especially if you are in the Overbrook area. 🌳

Join is this Saturday as we give some extra love to Morris Park!
We will be cleaning up trash, trimming, clearing trails, and/or pulling weeds. Gloves and tools provided. All we need is you!

Progress!! We tackled lots of poison ivy, english ivy, and japanese knotweed today. Not a lot of trash which is great. Thank you neighbors for your help taking care of our park.
