The Philly Asian Futures was nothing short of incredible. I am truly in awe of artistry. It’s no shock that her piece brought me to tears as it perfectly captured themes of belonging, resistance, hope, and identity in only ways that art can do.
I want to remind everyone that the root of South Asian dance is storytelling and community. It’s very easy to fall astray from our origins in this transplant world. Please continue to reflect— we must remind ourselves why we participate in art, what drives our motivation to create, how we create space, and who we allow in.
Thank you for reinvigorating my “why” for dance!
Lastly, art is for everyone. Dance is for everyone. Because there is a story for everyone to share and a story for everyone to hear. Truly hope you all feel that when you dance with me 🤎🪷
