We spent this Saturday in Hunting Park for Hunting Park United Family Fun Fitness Day! 🚲 🐐 Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling did a litter clean up of the area before enjoying the festivities while our bike educators activated the Lil' Philly Safety Village with free bike and helmet rentals and riding instruction. PLUS! We raffled off two youth bikes to Fun Day attendees. 🤗 🚲

The next bike and play sessions at the Safety Village is on September 26th! Register your youth at the link: https://give.bicyclecoalition.org/event/lil-philly-safety-village-bike-and-play-september/e783134

🗣️ Gloucester County Needs a Safer Design for the Glassboro-Elk Trail! 🌳🚲

Take survey (JUST 6 QUESTIONS!): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V39ZN59

Background: The Glassboro-Elk Trail is set to connect the Monroe Township Bike Path with the Elephant Swamp Trail, with bike lanes linking to Rowan University in Glassboro making a 14-mile continuous shared-use path. (Elk Township is also planning future upgrades to the Elephant Swamp Trail.)

Funding for this project was first awarded in 2018, but environmental and right-of-way issues have stalled the original alignment. The County has since shifted to a mostly on-road connection.

Gloucester County recently held a public information session on the new plan. The proposed alternate relies heavily on on-street bike lanes along high-stress roadways with speed limits of 45 mph or greater. These routes that won't meet Circuit Trails design standards and include no accommodation for pedestrians.

In partnership with Bike North Penn and the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, this 13 mile group ride will follow the future Liberty Bell Trail route from Lansdale to Norristown using a combination of existing trails and local roads.
