PA Humanities wants us all to remember that “Everybody has a story.”

Maven recently attended the Philadelphia launch of the nonprofit’s Voices of History program at the historic Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Keynote speaker Erica Armstrong Dunbar kicked off the program. The acclaimed historian, National Book Award finalist, and Emory College professor discussed her book “Never Caught: The Washingtons’ Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge,” which tells the story of George Washington’s enslaved cook who risked everything to escape from the nation’s first presidential household.

After a 10-year hiatus, the Philadelphia Cycling Classic took the city by storm this weekend.

Special kudos to Archer & Greiner P.C.’s Kate Sherlock for her dedicated work with Race Street Partners to support the event, from managing sponsorship contracts to ensuring proper trademark protection. It was amazing to see this shared vision come to life!

Reputation and trust are business assets, not the byproduct of good perception management.

Decisions are increasingly judged on how they're communicated and whether they hold up against an organization's stated values. In her latest blog post, Veronica Mikitka Reed makes the case for communications moving from a support function to a strategic one, with Chief Communications Officers now operating as direct partners to the CEO.

Last week, Veronica Mikitka Reed and interns Sofia McClintock and Danielle McCarthy took a behind-the-scenes tour of the 6abc Action News studio. Thanks to PRSA Philadelphia Chapter, they got to see the newsroom, the control center, and the studio.

It was a great chance to see how a broadcast really comes together!

Neighbors, educators, organizers, librarians, faith leaders, and volunteers. They're the people who keep civic life running — the Window Keepers of our communities, as Yolanda Wisher's poem puts it.

This summer, in honor of the nation's 250th anniversary, PA Humanities is inviting anyone in Pennsylvania to nominate a Window Keeper in their county. Over 50 individuals across the Commonwealth have already been selected for The Window Keeper: Civic Honors.

Know someone who deserves that recognition? Submit your nomination by this Friday, July 31: https://bit.ly/4wW4udT
