This winter I was invited to work with to create a piece of art with the kids in its program. Seeing how these kids manage their health and lives with type 1 diabetes showed me what it’s like to have a supportive community who share similar challenges and experiences with an uncooperative body. After a handful of meetings and drawing sessions I was able to design a skateboard graphic with lot of their help, that illustrates the highs and lows of managing diabetes. The silver and foil versions will be auctioned off on 4/11, but a limited number of split color wood stain versions will be available 4/12. Proceeds from all sales will be donated to Breakthrough to continue funding their support of children with type one diabetes. It’s a positive moment I’m sure everyone could use right now. More details on where to find a deck coming soon.
