Often times, the repair process gets over-complicated in our heads because we are looking for the perfectly scripted apology.

Our worry about having the perfect words actually keeps us from more deeply connecting to our little ones.

The connected presence we bring in is more important that having the perfect script. Repair can take 30 seconds, it can involve 2 sentences, or even little to no words.

If you feel awkward or unsure during the repair process, we’ll be talking about repair in the upcoming 🧨I’m Gonna Lose It workshop.

It can be so hard to hold a boundary when our little ones are crying for something that they want.

Sometimes, their crying can feel so dysregulating, and even painful for us parents.😖

Our physiology is meant to pull us to respond to our children when they’re crying. And, our early experiences can add another layer of difficulty depending on how our families handled emotions.

The good news is, when it comes to attachment, it’s not about ceasing your child’s crying as quickly as possible.

💖It’s about being attuned to our child’s emotional experiences, whether the crying lasts 2 minutes, or 40 minutes.

This is obviously easier said than done, and requires a lot of self-regulation and reflection on our part.

If you’ve tried to start the weaning process, but found it really difficult to support your child in their response, or, you’ve been putting off the weaning process because you know your child will cry when you set your nursing boundaries, we got you!

I just got a bunch of weaning books to put together our workshop, but I also started reading them to my toddler.

If you don’t know, he’s just a little over 2.5 years old and still nursing.

It’s currently working for us, but, I know that sometime in the not-too-distant future, we will end up fully weaning. So, I decided to start reading some of the books to him.

Even though we don’t have a concrete plan or set date to stop, it doesn’t hurt to plant seeds and familiarize them early on. This goes for any kind of transition (as depicted in the slides), including: daycare, welcoming a new sibling, saying bye to the pacifier, potty training, etc.

When I was reading him the book, the mom tiger talks about there being no more milk because the milk is running out. My toddler gave me the most suspicious look ever. Like… this isn’t about us though, right?🤨

Reading books is a great way to start gently introducing ideas to our little ones. Especially when it comes to big changes that will require a lot of adjustment. It also really helps us as parents have some language to use with our little ones because quite often we can feel lost on how to even start talking about big changes.

If you’re feeling lost on where to start when it comes to weaning your toddler, we have something exciting for you!
