It’s not your job to get even with whoever hurt you, but it is commanded by God that we forgive as He forgives. This can be incredibly difficult and it’s not in our human nature. That’s why it’s so important to ask the Holy Spirit to help us in forgiveness. When we forgive, we can more fully experience God’s gift of forgiveness. Relationships can flourish and there is a bitterness lifted. The benefits of forgiveness aren’t always immediate, and they don’t just affect the perpetrator, but they also change you for the better.⁠
