Option 1. Rem Arms XM-3

Pros: Short and light weight the XM-3 can fit in a pack and is maneuverable through all types of terrain. Chambered in 300 Blackout the XM-3 is accurate to 600 yards with Super Sonic Ammunition but has a secondary capability of using subsonic ammunition for covert engagements.

Cons: The 300 Blackout lacks a lot of range and stopping power compared to other cartridges. The XM-3 uses an internal magazine which slows down and complicates loading and the dropped heal of the butt makes shooting the XM-3 from prone less comfortable than other options.

Option 2. USMC M40A5

Pros: The pure manifestation of capability requirements identified from lessons learned in the GWOT, the M40A5 is a true Sniper's rifle. The Badger Ordnance M5 DBM means that 10 rounds are a mag change away. It features the best stock in McMillan's catalogue, the A4 which is fully adjustable for LOP and Cheek Piece height. It's inherent accuracy means the shooter has to put effort in to miss the target.

Cons: The M40A5 is over 1.3m's long and weighs nearly 9kgs loaded. There's no concealing the rifle in a pack. The size also makes reactive shooting difficult, requiring a more established firing position to achieve the precision the rifle is capable of.

******CAVEAT****** The IBA XM-3 was .308 and had a different NV Bridge. Because of the generation of XM-3 ours is, it is more similar to the Re*****on Arms catalogue XM-3 than the USMC Trial XM-3, thus the .300 Blackout chambering.
