As tempting as it can be to power through our workout and get on with the day, improving flexibility is an important part of every training program.

Flexibility (if not proactively worked on) will deteriorate with age.

Laurel is a big believer in really dialing in your daily habits. Good habits create great days, weeks, months and years. Bad habits, well...you get the idea.

If you can create systems around all of the important things in your life - YOU, your family and loved ones and then your work, you can ensure one area isn't focused on at the expense of the others.

Once you create CORE habits around things like exercise, sleep, nutrition, and stress management -- these require less thought and effort to make good choices in these critical areas. You do them somewhat on autopilot.

Specifically, having a solid #morningroutine and #eveningroutine are essential. Lets face it, the middle of the day we have a thousand disruptions, emails, and problems to deal with -- guard the first and last hour of your day closely.

Currently, here's the routines Laurel has in place:

1. A solid morning routine -- 5AM wakeup, meditate, read and some kind of movement or exercise every day.
2. Afternoon meditation. In her calendar and non-negotiable.
3. Loosely track food in #myfitnesspal. Not measuring at this point, but estimating to make sure she's getting enough protein specifically.
4. Her next goal is to dial in a bedtime routine that includes a gratitude practice, and winding down for sleep by 9:30pm.

This new member was “doing his own thing”. A little peloton, some hiking, throwing some weights around at the gym.

After a little convincing that he could benefit from following an actual “program”, he’s been training consistently twice per week for over six months and seeing amazing improvements in core strength & stamina.
