“I wanted to thank Trifit for your continued support in helping me achieve my goals.
I just flew back into town from US Masters Field Hockey World Cup tryouts (2 days) for the Over-45 womens age bracket. As if that wasn’t enough, I had played 9 games in a tournament the weekend prior. Talk about pushing my body to its limits!
I’m proud to report that I was able to stay injury free while enduring temperatures spanning 34 to 85 degrees AND I feel proud of how well I played. We expect to learn more about selection in a few weeks.
I am hugely grateful for Steven, who continually challenges, motivates and supports my fitness goals.
I am indebted to Bre, the PT magician, who remarkably is able to keep my body moving by preventing or treating anything I’ve thrown her way! We are so lucky to have the collaboration between Bre and Steven to be sure we’re rehabbing, when needed, in the right way.
I also owe a ton to my fellow workout buddies who keep it fun, make me laugh and have showered me with encouragement.
And lastly to Laurel, for building a Trifit family feel, welcoming of all bodies and fitness levels!”

Dana is a certified personal trainer who discovered her passion for helping others enjoy health and fitness about 10 years ago after joining a boutique gym. She spent many years building relationships and leading others to a healthier version of themselves.
Originally from Montana, Dana and her husband, James moved to Arizona 16 years ago and never looked back. They enjoy spending their time with their two incredible daughters.

Sports, Exercise, and Music---
That’s what I wrote on my first job application under “my hobbies”. 😊
My whole life I have been super active.
I started lifting when I was 12, I have played basketball for 28 years, played baseball for 35 years, and have been hiking even longer than that! My enjoyment is to take on every physical challenge I can!
Staying active has mostly been easy… But I have had a slew of injuries! Too many emergency room visits my mom @hollyhiker01 would probably like to forget about…
Broken and sprained wrists, fractured and dislocated fingers, separated and strained shoulder, torn meniscus ACL MCL and UCL, fractured clavicle, fractured tailbone, fractured and broken toes, severely sprained ankles, herniated disks, multiple concussions, and over 100 stitches around the face.
While being a student-athlete, my first go around in college, I suffered a meniscus tear and shortly after an ACL and MCL tear. These cut my collegiate and probably baseball career short. At the time, I was like most college students… partying, eating TopRamen and sh*tty fast food, getting minimal rest, and really enjoying the college aged life. These actions didn’t allow me to recover from lifting and practicing and probably was the root cause of my injuries.
This is where I enter college a 2nd time to study Exercise Science. Through research and studies, I ascertained what my behavior did to my body and learned the importance of nutrition, recovery, and sleep. I got into cooking/preparing almost all my meals and eating as fresh as possible… Avoiding ALL fast food, food with preservatives, and excessive alcohol consumption.
Post-graduation I was offered a job as the SilverSneakers coordinator/trainer at ScottsdaleCC. A job I loved; hearing their incredible stories and what they had been through all their years, helping them continue to live active lives or even better… helping them return from injuries just like I had so many times before.
The greatest thing I have learned through all my own experience is to just KEEP MOVING. We as humans are designed to move, not sit. Even through injuries, it’s important to keep moving!

Meet our client of the week, Cathy! Cathy has stepped up how often she trains, been super consistent with workouts, tracking her food intake, attending the weekly virtual nutrition calls, and even recruiting friends to join her at the gym!
Cathy says, “A little over a year ago, my friend Nancy White found TriFit and suggested we give it a try. That “try” is still going strong! I value all of the services that Laurel and the team offer.
Most importantly is the fact that they care! ❤️
I know I’m stronger and can do more than in the beginning. Sometimes when Steven or Korey show a new exercise, I give them the stink eye, but I still try. Most times I surprise myself in being able to do it! 💪 I just keep coming and doing my best. It’s a great family to be a part of!”
I wasn’t always so fit or health conscious. Even in my childhood and early teens I would accept excuses for myself and seek comfort. I thought life was about taking the “easy path”.
As a kid, I was terrible at sports. I had flat feet and was sedentary, making running and all athletic movements painfully difficult. In high school, I found drugs instead of sports.
I would have brief stints of weightlifting and bodybuilding, but I never loved myself or my body enough to make a true change towards a health promoting lifestyle.
After years of voluntary (and mandatory) drug rehabilitation, something inside of me finally “shifted”.
Was I to play the victim or the victor?
In a matter of moments my perspective changed from a destructive one, to a life affirming one.
With nearly every decision, I was able to stop and ask myself, ‘will this next action better me and those around me?’ Whatever we have been through, wherever we have been, we are able to make our lives (and through extension the lives of those around us) a little bit better each day.
I believe that movement should be celebrated, not avoided. And that bringing together mind, body, and soul helped me heal so that I can help others.
