Yoga isn’t about touching your toes. It’s about what you learn on the way down.
It’s about noticing what comes up when things get challenging. It’s about how you speak to yourself when you wobble, when you fall out of a pose, when you don’t meet your goals and expectations.
The journey towards your toes becomes a mirror. Are you forcing? Are you judging? Are you breathing? Are you listening? Are you feeling?
Every forward fold is an opportunity to practice patience. Every balance pose is an opportunity to practice presence. Every breath is an invitation to come home to yourself.
The pose isn’t the destination. The awareness you cultivate along the way is where real yoga happens.
Yoga asks us to be curious instead of critical, compassionate instead of competitive, and present instead of perfect.
So whether your hands touch the floor, your shins, or your knees it doesn’t really matter. What matters is what you discover about yourself on the journey.

Most yoga teachers don’t realize this…
Some of the most important Sanskrit words in yoga lose their depth in English translation.
And when the depth is lost…
your cues become generic instead of transformational.
Words like prana, chitta, buddhi, and maya were never meant to be reduced to one-word definitions. They’re experiences. Layers of awareness. Entire teachings.
This is the difference between teaching poses…
and teaching yoga.

Most people are watering everyone else…
while completely neglecting themselves.
Your mind grows from what you feed it 🌱
The thoughts you repeat.
The people around you.
The words you speak to yourself.
Yoga teaches us that growth isn’t just physical—it’s mental, emotional, and spiritual too.
What are you watering in your life right now? 💭

Sleep is part of self-care. Be selfish with it. Make it a priority. Hydrate. Exercise. Stretch. Kiss someone good night if you’re lucky enough to have someone. Sleep is a gift and it can be taken for granted. Menopause has taught me that. Enjoy it while you can. Sweet dreams. 🧘♀️💤

Yoga is over 5,000 years old—and most of what we practice today is only a small part of it.
The poses are just one piece.
Understanding the philosophy is what brings the practice to life.
That’s the part most teachers were never really taught.

Most yoga teachers learn the poses… but that’s not where the wisdom actually comes from. The Vedas (VAY-dahs) are the oldest sacred texts of yoga—think of them as the foundation of everything we practice, from breath to philosophy. They’re often described as “divine knowledge,” but that doesn’t mean complicated—it means guidance on how to live with more awareness, purpose, and balance in everyday life. I created my yoga philosophy cards to take concepts like this and make them simple, clear, and actually usable—because you shouldn’t have to read ancient texts to understand what you’re teaching.
