Any tips for posterior tibialis tendinitis? For years I was told it was my achilles, but it only ever hurts when I land from a single leg jump. When I mentioned to a pt friend that I have an extremely tender point on the inside of my calf she thought perhaps the doctor misdiagnosed as the symptoms didn’t fully fit and no improvement in years. She doesn’t have a background in dance though so I’d love to hear any thoughts you might have for those of us with a similar situation. Thanks!!

THESE KEEP DANCERS TIGHT AND REDUCE FLEXIBILITY
😳😳😳
How? By changing the tension in the upper next and shoulders which can reduce core stability and cause back or hip tightness, reducing the ability for things like a high arabesque or full splits.

If you FEEL frustrated when dancers don’t progress in strength and flexibility like you think they should and you’ve tried everything you know to help them improve, there’s still room in our DancemED™️ Certification intensive happening in 10 days😊

We dive deeper into how this happens and give tips on exercises to reduce these effects and achieve flexibility goals. We also cover how to resolve other flexibility and technique issues like:

Unlocking right hamstrings
Improving back flexibility
Improving spotting for better turns
And more 🤩

Prepping to teach my own certification, but also taking one! I’ve been a pointe shoe fitter for over 10 years, but as we check more shoes, I quickly knew I needed to get caught up with the more current shoe styles and features. (The Nicolini days are long gone 🤣) So I’m excited to start Pointe Certification! And yes - those are my shoes. I still play ballerina from time to time😊🩰

It’s summertime! Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water during your summer trainings and vacations! A sprinkle of sea salt and lemon helps the body absorb water better as well 😉 Thanks for the cute pic. Love you! 💕

Concussions in dance happen all the time. I consider anything harder than a hand slap to the head sufficient for concussion care. Yes - that’s a craft needle. I can’t remember if it’s for knitting or crochet.

What am I doing with it? Resetting eye muscle tension after a concussion. What is she getting? She’s getting instant reduction in eye sensitivity.
👀👀👀

Been getting a few more clients for concussion care lately.

Here’s what I have found regarding concussions:

Symptoms don’t really resolve with rest. The body creates a compensation to keep you going and your lifestyle changes to avoid worsening of symptoms. So the result may seem like you’re feeling better, but that may not be the case.

Here’s what we have found to be effective in a quick and effective recovery plan for concussions:

1️⃣ Releasing tension of specific eye muscle while strengthening the weak ones (yes, we can figure out which ones are weak and which are tense)

2️⃣ Hands on work to improve blood and fluid flow in and out of the head to reduce inflammation and promote healing

3️⃣ Hands on work to reduce tension to the vagus nerve which controls stress and inflammation

4️⃣ Nutritional support to rebuild damaged vessels and reduce inflammation

5️⃣ Stabilization of the neck and upper back muscle for proper head support

Faster and more complete recovery following head trauma is POSSIBLE, even if you’re still struggling with symptoms months or years after your accident.

Your body ALWAYS wants to heal and feel better. It will NEVER ignore a solution that will help it.

If you’re still struggling with any symptoms or lack of function after concussion or head trauma, message us and let’s chat about a path to feeling better. 😊

Got this message today from a client I’ve been working with for the last few months.

We are focusing on overcoming anxiety.

This message covers so many things that filled my heart with joy!

1️⃣ I love nearly every single one of my clients dearly. You can’t help people rise from their lowest lows without compassion and love. And I’m glad they love me back.

2️⃣ Showing appreciation makes everyone feel great. The sender feels grateful for what they’ve received and the recipient feels grateful that what they’ve given is making a difference in someone’s life.

3️⃣ Feeling “normal” is a goal for many Renatrition clients. The odd part is that they’ve sometimes become so used to their pain or suffering that it establishes a new normal for them. Sometimes they don’t believe that a better feeling life is possible for them. When they do and start to take steps to achieving it, sometimes the relief seems too good to be true, especially in the beginning. It’s wonderful to see them starting to see the healing potential of their work as a Renatrition client.

This client is working through anxiety that affected them at work and with family and friends. We haven’t even gotten into the mindset coaching part of the program. Their progress so far is from the work we are doing to stabilize immune and digestive health. Although more studies and info is coming out on the importance of gut health for mental health, it connections between the digestive and immune system has always been a HUGE part of our practice as it releats to clients finding relief from mental health symptoms including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD/ADD, and much more.

Messages truly keep me going, searching for better solutions to help more people feel better than they’ve ever felt. 😊💕

Safe travels to this dancer who came all the way from Texas to spend a week working in our clinic!

After months of persistent ankle pain that was not resolving with rest in a boot, traditional PT, or medications, we were able to discover a bacterial infection slowing down fluid flow and a clogged liver pulling on the right leg, putting increased force through the ankle and causing the pain.

Her first flush resulted in immediate reduction in her pain, so we know we’re on the right track. She has a solid plan as she returns home to continue cleaning the system and we will guide her with support of local help until she’s back in the studio doing what she loves.

If you feel like you’ve been in pain for so long and don’t see a way out, know that a solution is still possible. It just may not be where you think it is.

What the number one way to tell of another system may be contributing to your pain? EXERCISES AREN’T HELPING. It’s likely not the “wrong” exercise, bad positioning, or not enough exercises. The body never hesitates to heal when you give it the right solution.

01/31/2022

This is a great example on the effect of digestive health on mobility. After tons of unsuccessful stretching and exercise, this dancer’s mother reached out to us for help. What we found were symptoms of a clogged liver and constipation. Both of those can easily tight up the hips and spine when they are clogged and reduce mobility due to the fascia that connects the liver and intestines to the spine and hips. Cleaning out those areas releases that tension. The result? Improved mobility with little to no uncomfortable stretching! Love you Belle!!! 💕💕💕

NEW PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT!

Do you suffer from intense menstrual symptoms or other problems surrounding your period?

Horrible cramps
Heavy bleeding
Headaches, back pain
Difficulty with tampons
Fainting
Nausea or vomiting
Endometriosis
Sweating and hot flashes

Did you know that in most cases the ultimate SOLUTION often lies in resolving and UNDERLYING INFECTION? (Which is often bacterial, that’s we often crave sweets around our cycle. Bacterias use sugar as a food source. So we are literally feeding the problem.)

These symptoms aren’t as hereditary as you think. And I’m working with our clients we often find signs of bacterial infection throughout their life. Thinks like avoiding veggies, loving bread and carbs, frequent strep or ear infections, stomach issues and headaches.

We have room for 10 clients in our new 90 day BREAKTHROUGH PROGRAM looking to gain control of these symptoms and get back to living without fear of these symptoms holding them back.

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been dealing with your symptoms. It doesn’t matter your age. Our clients span pre-teens to those transitioning into menopause.

We are here and ready with simple and natural solutions to help you live and perform your best.

Interested? Visit https://Renatrition.com/breakthrough for more info and to claim your spot. Link in bio 😊

12/27/2021

No matter how you celebrate, we hope it’s the best!

12/18/2021

Our clients say it best! Q4 survey results are in! Thanks for trusting us with your care and we look forward to helping more in 2022!!!

Our Story

About Dr. Alexis and how AZDM got started:

“I attended PT school in New York from 2005-2008, volunteering with physical therapists who worked with professional dance companies all three years as well as PTs who performed research on movement and injury incidence in dancers, including the PT teams at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and Harkness Center for Dance Injuries. I started ANS Fitness and Physical Therapy in 2014 as a way to accept payment when dance moms would ask me to look at their kids’ injuries while I was teaching…legally. Then they started asking me to work with their kids privately, at the studio or at home. Since I worked at multiple studios this caused me to travel around the metro Phoenix area, working with tons of dancers.

By 2016, there were too many clients for me to continue making house/studio calls, so I got a small treatment space of about 150 sqft in central Phoenix. In 2017, the building my space was in caught on fire…twice. So I moved to a 250 sqft space in February 2018 in east Phoenix. Client demand continued to grow and in October 2018 we moved into a 550 sqft space.

Then teachers started reaching out to me looking for the best exercises for dancers or advice about guiding an injured dancer through recovery. So I started creating training and consulting for them, combining my knowledge of dance instruction (I’m a dance teacher too, don’t think I mentioned that.) with my body and movement knowledge as a physical therapist.
