We received official word that Apache - Sitgreaves is going in full forest closure Thursday at 6am. This is not a fire closure, there is no fire in the Big Lake area, this is just a forest closure. This includes all designated hosted campgrounds. So Big Lake Campgrounds, Hoyer Campground, East Fork Campgrounds, and Luna Lake Campground. Evacuations of these campgrounds will start tomorrow morning and everyone must be out by 5pm tomorrow. We do not know how long this closure will last, they are waiting for significant amount of moisture before releasing the closure. We will be issuing reservation cancellations in week blocks until we get word on when we can reopen. You can always cancel your own reservation at anytime at Recreation.gov. You can call our office at 928-537-8888 for more information.
Please pray for rain, our firefighters, our communities, and the local small businesses that will be struggling during this difficult time. It is a hard situation for all.
