Joseph Anthony Lassuy
September 8, 1960 — January 20, 2024
Phoenix
Joseph Anthony Lassuy age 63 years died on January 20, 2024, at his home in Phoenix, AZ after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born on September 8, 1960 in Pontiac, Illinois the 8th child of Albert and Mary Ann O’Riley Lassuy. He spent his early years making friends and memories in Odell, Il. In 1969 his family moved to Casa Grande, AZ. Joe graduated from CGUHS in 1979. He was a gifted athlete playing basketball, football, swimming, and diving. He attended NAU and CAC. He joined the US Navy in 1982 serving until 1992. He completed his service as an AMS1 (AW). After his service he earned his degree in business from the University of Phoenix while living and working in Tucson. Joe loved the desert (He called himself a desert rat) whether it be to hunt, hike or just stare at the skies. He loved his large family, his friends, and friends that became family. (Gil Trotter a life-long friend became known to our family as #9).

He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was cute, athletic, and charismatic but never arrogant.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Timothy. He is survived by sisters, Mary Pat McCarter -Ormond by the Sea Florida, Peggy (Jim) Snead Virginia Beach VA, Suzi (Paul) Whalen Brownsburg IN, brother Denny Lassuy (Jessy Jacobs) Portland OR, sister Teresa ( John) Caldara Phoenix AZ, Elizabeth Lassuy Phoenix AZ, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews all who have fond memories of their charming fun-loving Uncle Joe.

The family would like to thank Teresa and John Caldara for opening their home to Joe for the last 5 years making it his home, and lovingly caring for him and all his medical needs and for welcoming into their home all of Joe’s many visitors.
On Monday, January 29, 2024 a visitation will be held at 10 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 201 N. Picacho Street, Casa Grande AZ 85122. Joseph will be laid to rest on Wednesday, January 31st at 11 A.M. at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery with military honors at 2033 N. 48th Street in Phoenix.
