Riding the Buena Vista on National Trails Day - had the right idea! Thank you for enjoying the trails and for this fun video.â¤ī¸
Join the TRACKS Trail Crew tomorrow as we work on the Buena Vista Trail for the next four Mondays, constructing three miles of trails. That's three more miles of really good riding once it's done!
Please meet at the Buena Vista Trailhead, 7:00 am, prepped for trail work (hydration, sustenance, trail work attire). Hard hats and tools will be provided.
Because of the efforts of Save the Buena Vista Foundation, TRACKS, and .s.forestservice, we are able to protect and expand this much loved area, by locals and visitors alike, making it one of the best stacked-loop system in Arizona!

See you tomorrow and thank you for your support!
Tracks White Mountains Trails
Major trails are built as loops, with connector trails, so that users may go on short or long outings.
White Mountains Trail System consists of 200+ miles of trails for hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians & trail runners in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests of NE AZ, about 3 hours drive from Phoenix and 5 hours from Albuquerque. Elevations range from about 6300 to about 9000 feet, with trails of easy to moderate difficulty. The WMTS is in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests of NE Arizona,
FINALLY!!đđ
Please take the time to read an excerpt from Save the Buena Vista Foundation's exciting announcement:
"...The USFS approved the Buena Vista Project! This means that the old social trail system in the Buena area that were not included in the land exchange area are now official trails. We are also free to build the rest of the proposed trails in the project area, to post signage, and to create some re-routes of some existing social trails to move those away from archeologically sensitive areas.
It feels unreal to have reached this point after ten years of effort. We started this project back in 2016 when the possibility of making the Buena Vista's social trail system official seemed like a bit of fantasy not too many took seriously. But your voices of support, petition signing really moved the needle. The support and guidance of the USFS and White Mountain TRACKS helped a ton. And that's to say nothing of the financial and in-kind support from individuals, the City of Show Low, Navajo County the developer of the Show Low land exchange area that have pushed this project along and paid for archeological clearances and signage we will be posting....
We're going to have a blow-out of a party when we are ready to dedicate this new stacked-loop system, which is really the first of its kind in the White Mountains."
Be a part of this history-making trail (re)construction! Join TRACKS Trail Crew tomorrow, May 25, 8:00am, at the Buena Vista Trailhead. We will be moving some dirt around and feathering some rocks on the trail. Please come dressed for trail work and bring ample hydration. Hard hats and tools will be provided.
CONGRATULATIONS and A BIG THANK YOU to all the volunteers from Save the Buena Vista Foundation and TRACKS as well as the support from .forestservice who all made this dream happen together. You all are amazing. đ¤Š

We have started making signs for the new Buena Vista Trails System. Thanks to Doug and Rhonda for routing the signs. I customized the boards a little and Jason Moore is going to paint the signs. These are a bit unusual as they have difficulty indicators. Green circle for easy, blue square for moderate, and black diamond for đ. We will be putting these up in about a month or so.
If you haven't tried Cross Country Skiing in the beautiful White Mountains you're missing out on a peaceful experience that only this corner of Arizona can deliver.
