Bad days of jiu jitsu are still great days.

Competition is hard. Our guys went 0-2 today in the charity fundraiser event put on by Battle of the Badges Jiu Jitsu and Ranger Up . First jiu jitsu competition for Ian Heesacker 🇺🇸. Very solid effort. Much to be excited about and much to learn from.

Eric Price had another close match with a very tough opponent. Again, great effort, lots to learn from.

Amazing event supporting and showcasing local first responders. Very well run event that had a big turnout, and I'm sure raised a good chunk of money for a solid cause. Thank you to all the staff who made it possible.

As always, thank you for the great support from the coaches and teammates of deepwaterjiujitsu_nc and Chapel Hill Gracie Jiu Jitsu. It's always hard to compete. Having a team there with you always helps.

Calmness under pressure.

Whether we are talking about a real-world scenario, an MMA fight, a tournament match, or an intense roll in the gym handling pressure is the key to success.

This is the thought process behind why we pressure test at each belt level. Increasing your resilience, developing a quietness in the face of adversity, and finding a way to overcome your fear and adrenaline are skills that take time and practice.

Come practice with us.

Promotions are a special thing in jiu jitsu. There are only five adult belts, and everyone starts with the first. Each level upgrade is a big deal, so many who start at the beginning of one never make it to the next. No belt is "easy" to acquire. These belts certainly came with their share of struggle.

It is always great to see people progress, perform, and prosper. We are glad to have been able to be a part of their journey and look forward to many more milestones for each of them in the future.

Congratulations to Tim Compton (timothy compton
), Chris Law (Chris Law ), Doug Cowell (Doug Cowell ), and Nathan Rudolph (Nathan Rudolph ) on their promotions.

Air conditioning is fixed. We apologize for the last few, sweaty days.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

We are still trying to get the A/C fixed. Tonight will again be gi optional, and we expect it to be pretty warm in the gym.

If you are coming, please plan for the heat. A towel, some water, and a cool disposition will help. We have fans to keep the air circulating, but it is July in NC, so there is only so much we can do.

We apologize for the inconvenience. We have been assured that there will be some progress tomorrow morning.
