It was a beautiful night for a bike ride at one of our many Mined Land Wildlife Areas. Autumn is upon us.

🎵 I wish I was a slave to an age old trade, like riding around on rail cars and working long days...🎵

If you don't have much time and need a quick recharge before your next adventure, Schlanger Park in Pittsburg is a great place for a short stroll to take in some natural beauty. There is also disc golf, basketball courts, tennis courts, a skate park, a playground, and a splash pad (coming soon!).

These photos are all from Mined Land Wildlife Area Unit 1 (Frontenac, KS). If you're unfamiliar with the MLWA units, there are 20+ natural spots around the area similar to this.

Many are set up more specifically for fishing, but this one and a few others are some of my personal favorite spots for a nice long walk or to camp out at (make sure you clean up after yourself if you do; a lot of folks seem to have missed this memo).

Pittsburg State University has a beautiful lake near the stadium. This isn't exactly a "trail", but it IS a beautiful outdoor recreational space for fishing, a picnic, or just taking a slow walk and contemplating the big stuff.

Wilderness Park is in bloom and the trails are clear!
