At this point I’ve stopped fighting it.

Some people are called to medicine.
Some people are called to ministry.

Apparently I was called to squats, emotional intelligence, protein intake, and aggressively loving my wife 😌

And honestly?
That feels right.

Because lifting taught me more than how to build muscle.

It taught me discipline.
Confidence.
How to take up space without apologizing for it.
How to stop shrinking myself for people who were uncomfortable with strength.

And being loved well?
That changed everything else.

That’s a huge part of Phoenix Rising.
Not just building stronger bodies—but building lives that actually feel aligned with who you are.

So no, I may not know my “higher purpose”…
but I do know I’m happiest lifting heavy, loving deeply, and being exactly who I am.

Seems close enough.

🌧️ SUNRISE YOGA IS CANCELED THIS MORNING 🌧️

Unfortunately, it’s storming this morning and I don’t want to risk having everyone out in it, so we’re going to sit this one out.

BUT… our Bring a Friend Special is rolling over to next Thursday!

So you’ve got another week to find someone to bring! Remember, when you bring a friend to yoga, you BOTH get in for just $5 each!

We’ll be back next Thursday, hopefully with sunshine and a beautiful sunrise! ☀️

I’ll keep an eye on it and post another update this evening. I’ll also be up early tomorrow, so I’ll let you know at least 1–1½ hours before class if we need to cancel.

So check my page before you head out in the morning! 👀

And don’t forget… BRING A FRIEND SPECIAL!
Bring someone to yoga and you BOTH get in for just $5 each! 🙌

I’m not here to tell you to never eat these foods.

I’m here to tell you to stop pretending they have zero impact on your health just because wellness culture got tired of “restriction.”

There’s a difference between balance…
and building your entire lifestyle around things your body tolerates instead of thrives on.

And before someone yells “everything in moderation”—relax.
That’s literally the point.

None of these foods are an automatic death sentence.
Most of us will eat them sometimes.

The issue is when “sometimes” quietly becomes daily and people are shocked when energy, inflammation, body composition, blood markers, and longevity all start heading in the wrong direction.

At Phoenix Rising, we don’t do fear-based nutrition.
But we also don’t do delusion.

The research on processed meats, ultra-processed foods, sugary drinks, refined grains, and alcohol is consistent enough at this point to take seriously.

That doesn’t mean never.
It means be aware.

Because your body is keeping score whether you are or not.

This is what we talk about all the time:
Your health isn’t built by one meal.
It’s built by your patterns.

So ask yourself honestly—
are these things occasional parts of your life…

or the foundation of it?

In this house there is no “man’s job.”
There’s just… whoever gets to it first 😌

And honestly?
Why would I pass up the opportunity to drive a loud little grass go-kart while listening to music and pretending I’m the main character in a divorced dad country song?

Exactly.

At Phoenix Rising, we’re not real interested in outdated roles and labels.
Strong women can lift heavy, build businesses, mow lawns, fix things, lead relationships, and still come inside and yap about skincare and protein intake afterward.

Multitasking queens.

Also let’s be honest—yard work counts as cardio and touching grass is good for your mental health.

I will not be elaborating further.

At some point we have to stop acting like prioritizing your health and peace is some kind of personality flaw.

You’re not “boring” because you want sleep.

You’re not “old” because you don’t want to drink.

And you’re definitely not lame because you care about how you feel tomorrow.

We are grown adults.

Peer pressure should have been left somewhere around sophomore year with Axe body spray and emotionally unavailable men.

At Phoenix Rising, we talk a lot about discipline and intentionality because your life is shaped by the choices you repeatedly make—not the ones people clap for in the moment.

And here’s another thing people need to hear:

“No” is a full sentence.

Full stop.

You do not owe anyone an explanation for protecting your goals, your energy, your body, or your peace.

If someone gets offended because you chose the gym, water, sleep, or an early night over self-destruction disguised as “fun”…
that’s probably information.

Fen has completed the daily requirements:

✅ Fed
✅ Pooped
✅ Played
✅ Received attention
✅ Was told he’s a good boy approximately 47 times

And yet here I am, apparently failing as a mother because The Aussie Stare™ has determined there is still an outstanding balance.

I don’t know what he wants.
He doesn’t know what he wants.
But he is absolutely certain I’m the problem. 😂

Australian Shepherds: keeping you humble, confused, and under constant surveillance since forever.

Ace really woke up this morning and said, “How can I make everyone’s day significantly more difficult?” 😂

Mission accomplished.

Faked a medical emergency. Committed breakfast theft. Filed noise complaints against every dog in a 3-mile radius. And now, as compensation for all of this hard work, he’s headed to Starbucks for a Pup Cup.

Honestly, the audacity is impressive.

10/10 menace.
0/10 remorse.
Will absolutely do it again tomorrow. 🐾😂

I would like to formally apologize to my wife for the bad mood I got myself into after everyone failed to follow the extremely detailed schedule I created privately in my own brain and communicated to absolutely no one 😌

Apparently people cannot read thoughts.
Seems fake, but okay.

And honestly? This is probably why health journeys fail too.

People expect results from plans they never clearly defined.
They assume their spouse should magically know what support they need.
They “kind of” want to get healthier but never actually communicate expectations, routines, or goals.

Then everybody’s frustrated and no one knows why.

At Phoenix Rising, we talk a lot about discipline and consistency…
but self-awareness deserves some attention too 😅

Sometimes the problem is hormones.
Sometimes it’s stress.
And sometimes you’re just mad because your imaginary itinerary got disrupted by reality.

Growth is recognizing the difference.
