Last tournament of the season!

Super proud of these girls for going 3-0 in pool play out scoring our opponents 30-8 and earning the #2 seed! They battled all weekend in terrible smokey conditions. We weren’t sure if we were at a softball tournament or waiting for Grandma to yell bingo at an 80s firehall.
Unfortunately, the seeding didn’t quite fall our way. Several teams chose to forfeit because of the wildfire smoke, and the #1 seed went to a team that only played one game while receiving two forfeit wins. Since those forfeits counted as 0 runs allowed, they edged us out on the tiebreaker despite our girls earning all three wins on the field.
Nothing we can do about it now. We’re proud of the way these girls competed, controlled what they could, and finished pool play undefeated. We’ll gladly take the #2 seed and get back to work tomorrow. Let’s go Steel City!

This weekend had its share of highs and lows, but one moment stood out above all the rest.
Yesterday, 304 Havoc beat us. Today, before their own game, they came to the field and cheered our girls on as we fought back from a 3-7 deficit to pull off an 8-7 comeback against a team that had beaten us 1-14 the day before.
When it was their turn to play, our girls were right there cheering just as loudly for them.
Unfortunately, we saw some poor sportsmanship this weekend, mostly from adults. But this? This is what youth softball is supposed to look like. Two teams competing hard, respecting each other, and celebrating great softball no matter whose name is on the jersey.
Moments like these remind us that the lessons our girls learn off the field will last far longer than any tournament trophy. Here’s to building competitors with character.
