Billlard Barbell closed up in the 1990s, but not before making these Loc-Fast Barbell Collars for standard bars. They feature two pieces that screw into each other, which compared to the bolt driven collars of the time were quite fast. The only problem now is that Billard made a slightly larger diameter center hole and bar than most 1” standard weights/bars. So none of these fit snuggly on typical 1” standard bars! Other than the noticeable change in size, the other notable design changes over the years were: knurled to lined/ridge, Mansfield PA to New York City, and the weight change from the lighter larger to heavier larger and back to lighter smaller. The heavier larger are identical to the smaller in design but have different weight and different location. Although tough to use on most standard bars, a thicker diameter bar isn’t too hard to find, and these still hold a place in strength history. Several modern iterations of this collar design have been produced by various companies over the years.
