Acoustic and Aerodynamic Comparisons of Voice Qualities Produced After Voice Training.

This month's featured study examined whether the voice qualities taught in Estill Voice Training® could be distinguished using objective acoustic and aerodynamic measurements. The answer is YES.

Researchers found that the physiological characteristics associated with different voice qualities produced measurable differences in airflow, subglottal pressure, loudness, pitch, and vocal stability. Using these measurements, they were able to classify the voice qualities with over 88% accuracy.

Studies like this continue to strengthen the connection between voice science and practical voice training, helping teachers, clinicians, and performers understand that vocal control can be both heard and measured.
