Two multiple coin drops today...one with silver Washington quarters.

Photo of the Marietta, Ohio lead plate, left by a 1749 French expedition to claim territory along the Ohio River for France. Six plates were placed at different locations, from Warren, Pa, Franklin Pa, Wheeling WV, Marietta, Oh, Point Pleasant, WV and Cincinnati, Oh. Two of the 11" X 7" X 1" thick plates were recovered - in Marietta, found in 1798, and at Point Pleasant, 1846.

Off and on detecting round results, culminating in a torque-like copper bangle found yesterday...

2026 USA Olympic gold in hockey..

February finds to date...1902 Barber quarter, 1915 token, 1948 nickel, $ clip, tag, valve...result of detecting tips back in the '80's.

...time for a Past Finder update on the 2025 season. As a footnote to the fabulous silver saga detailed below, we skip ahead to January, 2026. On the 29th, silver soars to $121.50 an ounce. Wild speculations on a global scale saw prices rise from around $40 in my July, 2025 detecting rounds, with daily increments like never before. By years end, December quotes catapulted the white metal above $75 an ounce, with large central banks joining in. January peaks whipsawed in the $105 - $115 range. But the slide on January 30, another 'Silver Friday', pared $35 off the price. History repeats itself, 46 years after the 'Silver Thursday' in March, 1980, bringing it back to the levels around New Years day. Metal detecting in 2026 should prove to be interesting.
