We ran out of room on the JAM wins board last month. We’ve had more things worthy of this board happen since then, but we haven’t been able to bring ourselves to erase anything to make space.

We’re looking into retiring this board and hanging it up. Anyone know a guy

This is why we get up at 5am even when it’s snowing and 🥶 in April

JAM Good Vibes

Inspired by Chris Farley, caffeine, and dad jokes!

Lisa’s response to our last post came the very next day:

“All she wants to do right now is to be fireman carried around because of what we did. That is something I could not do at the beginning.”

This quote now lives on the JAMMER wins board.

We have never been bigger fans of the phrase “like mother, like daughter.”

We were convinced our email got hacked when Shirley first reached out.

A blank page.

We told ourselves a different story, so we still responded in our most formal yinz’d-up English.

No reply. No text back.
We figured it was spam. Or a jagoff.

Then it happened again, 3 months later. Again, no response.

Then two new faces walked into the gym.

I spent over an hour talking with Shirley — everything translated by her husband.

Before she ever picked up a weight, she had a few “minor” obstacles:
• She only speaks Mandarin.
• Never stepped foot in a gym (unless Chinese dance aerobics counts).
• 5 months postpartum. Two kids. Sleep? Optional.
• a cultural food landscape very different from generic fitness plans.
• And yes… family. (If yinz know, yinz know.)

On paper? Complicated.

We didn’t see it that way.

Because underneath all of that, she was exactly the Jammer we love to help:

Up most nights with the kids.
Living on caffeine and energy drinks.
Nervous to walk into a gym.
Kids are feeling heavier every week.
Tired. Overwhelmed. Unsure where to start.
That’s not complicated.
That’s what JAM does.

She couldn’t press 16 pounds overhead.
→ Now she presses 70+.

A 20-pound carry felt heavy.
→ Now she carries her kids with ease (and noticed in under 3 months).

She couldn’t lift much off the floor.
→ Now she lifts more than her bodyweight.

Assisted split squats.
→ Now weighted get-ups from her knees.

Bodyweight squats were work.
→ Now she swings 53 pounds with confidence.

She felt out of place in the gym.
→ Now she trains anywhere, on her own.

Her cardio struggled to reach a basic 5-minute Assault Bike interval.
→ Now 15+ minute circuits don’t break her.

She watched Olympic lifts and powerlifting on TikTok.
→ Now she does them.

Her first messages were entirely in Mandarin.
→ Now she confidently communicates in English outside her home.

Shirley lost over 70 pounds.
But that might be the least impressive thing she did.

Just another week at JAM

We all love and celebrate a meal with po-ta-toes! But between those special meals you have to your lembas bread. In other words, big achievements aren’t built in big moments.

They are built on small victories:

Showing up, taking action, doing something now that you were once apprehensive in doing, learning how to respond to curveballs thrown your way, and consistently doing something challenging that benefits you over time.

If you learn to recognize them, youll never feel behind.

Respect your small wins, and if you can’t find them, the JAM boys are great at finding small things.

If you know if you want this kind of support or you know someone wants who needs this kind of support, say what up. Let’s JAM.
