Did you know brand reps are often not certified saddle fitters? I am an independent certified saddle fitter. I have zero brand affiliations and I don't even offer saddles for sale nor do I take them on consignment! This is one of my concerns with adjustable saddles and the used saddle market. How many times can the saddle be adjusted? Has the fitter marked the changes on the saddle somehow? If the adjustment is more than slight, does the saddle tree still fit the horse’s shape?

Taking a part this saddle today for a conversion and billet replacement and lo and behold I see the tree has been altered. This can be one of the issues and risks when buying used. This saddle was modified to make the tree ride asymmetrically for a particular horse. However, who knows how many horses ago this was modified for and how many people have used this saddle having no idea. That’s the primary reason I’m adamantly opposed to asymmetrical tree adjustments, but that’s for another post 😉. Fortunately I have a great network of fellow certified saddle fitter program graduates so that when I see something weird, like this, one of my colleagues has probably seen it before and I know it’s something I can easily correct and this saddle will be sound for its current intended horse

Saddle Fitting Pricing

* Saddle Evaluation $150 per hour regardless of how many saddles for 1 horse - minimum
* Call Fee $85 with in 30 miles of Placerville, CA. $125 outside, can be split between multiple clients
* Spot flocking $150 +$100 if panels need to be dropped
* Full reflocks $450
* CAIR to wool conversion $500
* Billet replacement $45 per billet. $100 charge if I need to drop the panels.
* VIRTUAL CONSULTATION -$75

*Not accepting consignment saddles at this time.

I’m going to be offering virtual consultations for $75. A virtual consultation will a 24 hour time frame in which to ask me questions via email, text, or Facebook. Or even FaceTime. I will need photos like the ones below. Both with the saddle sitting without the girth and girthed down riding tight.
