Another familiar face for our NCK families!

Leon started karate when he was just 4 years old — and today he’s teaching the next generation of NCK students.

As a dad himself, he understands that karate isn’t just about what students can do physically. It’s also about helping them develop confidence, discipline and self-control.

You’ll often find Shihan Leon working with our older students, instructors and adults.

His favorite of our 5 Principles of Conduct?

🎀 NCK IS GOING PINK THIS OCTOBER! 🎀

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year our NCK family is coming together to help make a difference. 💗🥋

Throughout the month of October, we will be raising money for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation.

For a $20 donation, students can choose either:

🎀 A Pink Karate Belt
OR
👕 A Pink NCK T-Shirt

And YES — you can wear your pink belt or shirt to class ALL MONTH LONG! 💕🥋

All proceeds will be donated to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation.

We’ll also have a donation tracker hanging in the dojo so our students can watch our pink ribbon fill up as we work toward our goal! 🎀

We know breast cancer has touched the lives of so many families, including people within our own communities. This is a wonderful opportunity to teach our students that being strong isn’t only about what we do on the mat — it’s also about supporting others and giving back. ❤️

Some parents are looking for an activity to help their child build confidence.

🥋 An Incredible Honor & A Legacy Worth Protecting 🥋

It is with tremendous honor and gratitude that I share that I was bestowed the Professor Nick Cerio Legacy Award, while my student, dear friend, and longtime training partner, Shihan Nathan Lovejoy, was bestowed the Senior Grandmaster George Pesare Legacy Award.

To be the first recipients of these awards is something that words simply cannot express.

Throughout my years in the martial arts, one of my greatest goals has been to preserve and pass on Professor Cerio’s knowledge—to teach it to my instructors so they can carry it forward and pass it on to their students for generations to come.

To receive this recognition from the Masters means more than an award. It is reassurance that the work we have been doing, the traditions we have protected, and the responsibility we have taken in representing the Cerio name and patch are being carried forward with the respect they deserve.

I am also incredibly proud of Shihan Nathan Lovejoy. Nathan has followed alongside me in the martial arts as a student, friend, and training partner, while also dedicating himself to serving our country through three active-duty tours. His dedication, loyalty, discipline, and commitment make this recognition incredibly well deserved.

Professor Cerio’s legacy is not something we simply remember.

It is something we continue. We teach it. We protect it. And we pass it on. 🥋

I am humbled, grateful, and incredibly honored.

The legacy continues. ❤️🥋

❤️🥋 MEET SENSEI CAT!

If you have one of our younger students, there’s a good chance you already know Sensei Cat!

Cat basically grew up at NCK. She started karate when she was only 3 years old and has spent most of her life around the dojo.

Today, she’s one of our instructors and has a special way of working with our youngest students.

She’s patient, kind and knows how to make karate FUN while still teaching kids to listen, work hard and believe in themselves.

Her favorite of our 5 Principles of Conduct is CHARACTER — because she believes people need to learn to be themselves. ❤️

We’re pretty lucky to have her as part of our NCK teaching team!
