For Norfolk, Wrentham and Plainville Boys and Girls in Grades Kindergarten to 6th grade, register now through November 3rd, 2024.

Registration is now open as of Tuesday October 1st, 2024. Registration will close on Sunday November 3rd.

Youth Basketball is back!! We are excited for you to join us in our 18th year of Youth Basketball! Norfolk, Wrentham and Plainville Youth Basketball (NWPYB) is a tri-town instructional league led by professional coaches and supported by the King Philip players. Our philosophy is to teach players the FUNdamentals of the game in a caring and fun manner specifically geared toward the elementary school-age player. Our goal is to give players an excellent foundation and experience to enjoy the game at all levels while emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship. Boys and girls play on separate teams.

The Schedule
Kindergarten : Boys & Girls (separate groups) will play on Saturday's 12/7 to 2/1 (NO games on 12/28) at KP Middle School (Norfolk, MA).
Girls: Grades 1 - 6 will play on Saturday's 12/7 to 2/1 (NO games on 12/28) at KP Middle School (Norfolk, MA).

Boys: Grades 1 - 6 will play on Saturday's 12/7 to 2/1 (NO games on 12/28) at KP High School (Wrentham, MA).

Anticipated Times
The following times may change based on actual registration numbers. Grade and location are as follows:

At KP Middle School (Norfolk, MA): Saturday's
2024-2025 DATES: SATURDAYS Boys/Girls K & Girls Grades 1-6: at KP Middle School 12/7, 12/14, 12/21, 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, & 2/1 (NO 12/28).

At KP High School (Wrentham, MA): Saturday's
24-25 DATES: SATURDAYS Boys Grades 1 - 6 at KP HIGH SCHOOL 12/7, 12/14, 12/21, 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, & 2/1 (NO 12/28).

Weekend SCHEDULES: Final schedule depends on total
registrations. We anticipate K Boys & K—6 Girls to play between 8:45am & 1pm (KP Middle School) and grades 1-6 boys 9am-2pm (KP High School).

Optional Practice
Players in 3rd through 6th Grade have an optional, but encouraged, practice on Wednesday evenings at the King Philip Middle School (Norfolk). Dates and Times to be announced. Practices will be for Grades 3 through 6 ONLY.

Further Information
All players receive a full uniform and players in Kindergarten through Grade 2 receive their own basketball to keep. We will be scheduling a separate time for uniform pick-up. Stay posted!
Program cost/fee:
Kindergarten through 2nd Grade: $129
Grades 3 through 6: $159
Family discounts: Sibling Discount Available.

All players receive full, reversible uniforms. Please specify uniform size when ordering. If size is in question, please order up! (Shorts have drawstrings).
Fees include uniform and ball for Grades K to 2, a uniform, and Wednesday practice for Grades 3 through 6.

Plainville Park and Rec Department will be teaming up with Norfolk and Wrentham Rec departments again this basketball season. We will be able to offer any child (Boys and Girls) from Kindergarten to 6th grade a chance to participate in rec youth winter basketball this season. By combining this rec basketball program with the other towns, Plainville Recreation will be able to give those children in 5th and 6th grade, both boys and girls, a chance to continue to play rec basketball. In the past Plainville Rec has only been able to offer this program to children up to 4th grade.

We are looking forward to another year at the Plainville Town Pool for Swim Lessons!! The pool renovations are coming together with some great new updates for this summer!! Please see the full information below for swim lessons and we hope to see you all in the water this summer.

Red Cross Swim Lessons
Registration for Swim Lessons (Summer of 2024) is NOW OPEN (5/1/2024).

Join us at the Plainville Town Pool (Everett W Skinner Pool) located at 142 South Street, Plainville, MA 02762 for Swim Lessons on weekday mornings this summer (2024). We welcome beginners starting at 4 years old as well as older children looking to learn and improve different strokes!

All Swim Lessons are taught by American Red Cross/YMCA (WSI) with Water Safety Instructor certifications.

Swim Lessons are offered in one-week sessions (5 total lessons per week) which meet Monday through Friday. Lessons are scheduled between 8:00AM and 12:00PM rain or shine! Lesson times will be scheduled as each session fills based on the number of participants signed up for each level. We will Email you the week prior to your session to notify you of your child's lesson times for their upcoming swim lessons.

Classes are limited in size. Pre-school and Level 1 groups will have up to 6 children per class. Levels 2 to 6 will have up to 8 children per class.

Preschool and Level 1 - $65, 5 Lessons per session - 30 minutes each class

Levels 2 to 6 - $70, 5 Lessons per session - 40 minutes each class

Session 2: July 1st to July 5th * (NO CLASS on Thursday 7/4) $10 discount for Session/week 2 ONLY *
Session 3: July 8th to July 12th

Session 8 (Last week): August 12th to August 16th
Evaluations are required by any child who did not take swimming lessons with us prior! (Just to ensure we place your child in the correct swim class). Evaluation times are to be determined and scheduled with the Plainville Park & Rec Department. 4-year-olds will automatically be placed in the preschool-level class.

Registration / Payments
Registration for Swim Lessons at the Plainville Town Pool begins on Wednesday May 1st, 2024! Registration is not final until we receive your payment. If your child has taken swim lessons with us before, please include the level your child should be in and the swim week(s)/session(s) you would like to register them for.

We are excited to announce that the Plainville Park & Rec Summer Rec Program is OPEN for the 2024 summer season!
The Plainville Park & Rec Summer Recreation Program is open to children entering 1st—8th grade in the Fall (September 2024). Our summer program runs Monday's through Friday's at the Plainville Town Park (142 South Street, Plainville, MA 02762) for the duration of 8 straight weeks. This year we will be offering FULL days or half days as well as full weeks or daily registrations. Our Full Day summer rec program runs Monday's through Friday's from 8:30AM to 4:00PM at the Plainville Town Park.
Each week will feature a field trip (which the cost is already included in the weekly price. Field trip locations are listed below and on our Town website). The program includes daily activities such as different sports, field games, court games, playground, swimming in the town pool, board games, arts and crafts, table games, and more!

2024 Dates are as follows...
Week One (1): June 24th - June 28th. FT - Pinz (bowling @ Milford, MA)
Week Two (2): July 1st - July 5th *NO PROGRAM THURSDAY July 4th* FT - United Skates of America (roller skating @ Rumford, RI)
Week Three (3): July 8th - July12th FT - Altitude (Trampoline park @ North Attleboro, MA)
Week Four (4): July 15th - July 19th FT - Monster Mini Golf (1st - 4th grade) & Xtreme Craze (laser tag) 5th - 8th grade
Week Five (5): July 22nd - July 26th FT - Pinz (bowling @ Milford, MA)
Week Six (6): July 29th - August 2nd FT - Urban Air (jump/activity park @ Bellingham, MA)
Week Seven (7): August 5th - August 9th FT - Altitude (Trampoline park @ North Attleboro, MA)
Week Eight (8): LAST WEEK August 12th - August 16th FT - EcoTarium - Museum (1st - 4th grade) & Xtreme Craze (laser tag) 5th - 8th grade
​*****1st - 4th grade will attend field trips on Wednesday each week and 5th - 8th grade will attend on Thursday each week. ONLY change will be week 2 (due to the 4th of July) the 5th -8th grade field trip will be on Friday that week.

2024 Rates
The registration fee for a full one-week session (Monday-Friday) is $240. Weekly cookouts, Field Trips & special events, along with daily pool time are included in the registration fee! A non-refundable deposit of $50.00 per week/per child is due at registration to hold their spot. Discounted rates for families signing up with three (3) or more children. Third child in a family is FREE (1st -8th grade)!
**Please contact the Park Department with any financial concerns! Limited scholarships available on a first come basis. Payment plans available for those in need.**
Daily signups will be allowed at a fee of $70/full day OR $40/half day. Half day hours: either 8:30AM - 12:30PM OR 12:00PM - 4:00PM. Any child attending a half day DOES NOT attend any scheduled field trips! If you would like your child to go on the field trip for their age group, they would need to attend a full day for that particular day. PLEASE NOTE daily sign ups in your registration form. If not specified for daily sign ups, then the child will be registered for a full day/week program.

BEFORE & AFTER CARE: Before Care 7:30AM - 8:30AM & After Care 4:00PM - 6:00PM
Flat rate of $20 for Before Care AND Flat rate of $25 for After Care, per day/per child! Any family looking to take advantage of these extended hours MUST REGISTER for extended care for staffing purposes!! ONE WEEK MINIMUM NOTICE REQUIRED for any extended care hours! IMPORTANT: Due to the school's summer hours, we CANNOT OFFER EXTENDED CARE HOURS ON RAINY DAYS when the program will be held at the Wood school!

Inclement Weather Policy:
On any day there will be inclement weather (heavy rain, extended rain, thunderstorms, etc.) the Summer Recreation Program will be held at the Wood School (72 Messenger Street). The Plainville Park Department will notify all Families by 8AM the morning of those inclement weather days. PLEASE NOTE: The school hours are 8:30AM to 3:30PM, so our program will end 30 minutes earlier on those days! We cannot control these hours and appreciate your cooperation with the pick-up time. NO extended care hours on inclement weather days.

Payments can be made at the Plainville Park Dept. office (metal lock box located outside our office building) or mailed to: Plainville Park Department, 142 South St., Plainville, MA 02762. Payments can also be dropped off at Plainville Town Hall. Or given to the Park Director (John Teiner).
A non-refundable deposit of $50 per week/per child is due at registration!!! Registration is NOT COMPLETE until deposit is received!

Payment Due Dates: FULL payment for your child's week, will be due by that MONDAY for any week your child is signed up for.

Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is intended for boys and girls entering 9th & 10th grade in September 2024. The CIT program is best suited for students who are interested in working with children in the future, want to gain leadership experience and desire to work alongside Recreation Staff. Cost per week for the CIT program is $100 per child. NEW CIT candidates will need to fill out a town application and will be interviewed (in-person or on the phone) with Park Director John Teiner. Applications will be accepted starting May 1st until sports are full.

Hello Rec Spring soccer families,

Due to the heavy rain, we just got this morning, and the current rain and wet field conditions I am going to CANCEL ALL rec soccer groups, for TODAY Saturday 4/20/24 for everyone's safety.

I just walked and checked out the Town Park fields which are soaked and some flooding, and the rain is forecasted to continue steady through the morning/afternoon. The fields are just too wet, and slippery for any playing conditions today. We will resume as normal next Saturday (4/27/24) at our regular group times.

2023 Town Tree Lighting event at Telford Park in honor of Mr. James Faille.
Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at 5PM
Weather make-up date would be Sunday December 10th.

Food Truck from 4-6 p.m.
Tree Lighting at 5:00 p.m. and Santa arrives at 5:15 p.m.

There will be some hot chocolate, popcorn, caroling and holiday crafts.
Attendees are urged to bring canned or non-perishable food items for the Plainville Living Bread Food Pantry.
The Boy Scouts will assist with the food donations the night of the event as well as the Humphrey House.
The Girl Scouts will be doing the caroling and holiday crafts.

The Humphrey House will be opening from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This event is co-sponsored by the Park Commission and the Plainville Lions Club.

OPTIONAL donation to the "James Faille Memorial Fund" in
his honor, the Town of Plainville has set up the James Faille Memorial Fund to support holiday lighting and keep the tree lights going in the future. If you would like to donate, please send a check to the Town of Plainville Park Donation Account in his memory. (Please indicate James Faille in the memo line.) The Plainville Park Department will handle all donations for the James Faille Memorial Fund.
