This was my first baitcaster!

45 year old Shimano ad featuring a young Jimmy Houston.

I remember wanting one of those rod and real combinations so bad when I was in high school but I couldn’t afford it.

I spent two months mowing yards and then purchased this Shimano rod and reel at Southtown sporting goods in Joplin, Missouri.

My first trip with it to Grand Lake in my leaking flat bottom boat I remember catching three bass on a Bill Norman Snatrix plastic worm on that outfit.

I can’t remember where I left my truck keys today but I can remember when this happened 45 years ago…. lol
