Introducing our newest Sho-Dan-Ho (Junior Blackbelt): Mr. Minh Montgomery🎉🎉
Mr. Montgomery has been training at our dojo for 10 years (since he was 3 years old)! In our style the earliest you can test for Sho-Dan-Ho, which is our junior blackbelt, is age 13 and you have to test again at age 16 for Sho-Dan, the senior black belt. Mr. Montgomery endured a challenging week where he was pushed to his limits and sparred boldly with adults. Not only that, but he exemplified tenacity as he completed his testing week while wearing an eye patch - which adds several additional layers of difficulty. We are so deeply proud of Mr. Montgomery and are honored to call him the first junior black belt in our dojo’s history!!
We are honored to congratulate our new black belt Mr. Emery Fairman🥳🔥Mr. Fairman has been working dilligently for years both studying the history of karate and training to boost strength, coordination and agility. He blew us all away during his testing with incredible cardio fitness and energy. Both in karate and life, Mr. Fairman is kind, supportive and attentive. We’ve watched Mr. Fairman grow up and we cannot be more proud of him❤️He now joins his mom Mrs. Heather Fairman on our black belt instructor team!
First up to congratulate is our newest Sho-Dan Mr. Stephen Dunham!! Breaking a cinderblock is only the last step of testing - the real challenge is the grueling week before where we push each te**ee to their mental and physical limits. Stephen persevered and always tried his best even when faced with monumental challenges. We are proud for him to join our black belt ranks.
Fun fact: Now we have 5 Dunhams on our instructor team!

Black belt testing is a week that will be burned in your memory for a lifetime - it’s a journey and how you look at it determines what you gain from it. Our newest black belts (the rank of Sho-Dan and Sho-Dan-Ho) exemplify the characteristics of being a black belt. This week they showed up and left their all on the mat day after day. We couldn’t be more proud to introduce: Mr. Stephen Dunham, Mr. Emery Fairman and our junior black belt, Mr. Minh Montgomery! 🔥
