She weighs 6 lbs., is 18.5 inches long, and has beautiful black hair and brown-gray eyes. Mom and baby are both doing great!

🌟 Meet Our New Plano Family YMCA Board Member: Shawn Nicholas! 🌟

We’re excited to welcome Shawn Nicholas to the Plano Family YMCA Board!

Shawn brings extensive leadership experience in financial services and nonprofit governance to the Board, along with a deep, long-standing connection to the YMCA. A YMCA member since 1995, he has a lifelong appreciation for organizations that invest in youth and strengthen communities.

In addition to his professional career, Shawn has dedicated many years to mentoring young people through his leadership with the Youth Mentor Network of Plano and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Collin County. He is passionate about supporting the YMCA’s mission and helping expand opportunities for youth and families across the Plano community.

We’re grateful to have Shawn’s experience, leadership, and commitment to service on our Board. Please join us in welcoming him!

🏫 BOARD RETREAT | Back to Work! 💙

As the back-to-school season begins, the Plano YMCA Board is back to work! Staff and board members kicked off the new year by reconnecting with our mission, strengthening relationships, and preparing for an impactful year ahead.

A special thank-you to Sharita Butler, Board Chair, for welcoming our team, and to Officer Bianez for hosting us at Plano Police Headquarters, sharing about the Plano Citizens Academy and his Tai Chi program, and giving us a tour! 👮‍♂️

Jenny Federici, Chief Brand Officer, also shared Association updates and exciting details about upcoming events, including the Key Leaders Lunch, Turkey Trot, and YMCA NAYDO Conference.

Our committees then got to work planning for the 2027 Annual Campaign and upcoming community engagement opportunities—including our new fall signature event, the Teacher Appreciation Breakfast in October. This special event will celebrate and support educators with a panel discussion featuring mental health professionals. 🍎

We’re energized, inspired, and ready for a great year of strengthening our community together! 💙

We’re excited to welcome Wendy Cassidy to the Plano Family YMCA Board!

Wendy brings a lifelong connection to the YMCA and a strong commitment to service, youth development, and community safety. As a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service, she has dedicated her career to protecting and serving others, while also educating communities on cybersecurity and online safety.

Through her volunteer work with the YMCA—including cyber safety presentations and child identification programs—Wendy continues to support families and empower youth. She is passionate about helping young people build confidence, resilience, and strong values while advancing the YMCA’s mission of strengthening the community.
