A good dive buddy does more than stay close. 🤿

The SDI - Scuba Diving International 🐡 Rescue Diver course is about learning to recognise when something isn’t right, prevent problems from escalating, and respond effectively when another diver needs help.

But good divers also understand that incidents rarely come down to one person making one bad decision.

That’s why we include Gareth Lock Essentials as part of our SDI Rescue Diver course.

It introduces a systems approach to safer diving — looking beyond individual error to understand how communication, teamwork, situational awareness, decision-making and the conditions around us influence what happens underwater.

We include this as we believe a Rescue course shouldn’t just teach you what to do once something has gone wrong. The best way to tackle emergencies is to prevent them from ever occuring.

The certification gets you through the door. What comes next is where you really learn to dive.

Every dive adds something: better buoyancy, better awareness, more comfort in the water, new conditions, new environments and the experience to make good decisions when things don’t go exactly to plan.

There will always be another course to take and another card to earn — but there’s no substitute for simply getting out there and diving.

Congratulations to our newest Open Water Divers: Kylee, Carter, Kyle Richter, Tasha, Kyle Scott, and Nathan Richter!

Six new certifications, six new divers, and a whole lot of diving ahead of them.

Kylee and Tasha also got an introduction to Girls That Scuba from our amazing Jeanette, connecting them with a global community of women who dive — because finding your dive community can be just as important as earning that first certification.

Before we introduce the new group at the lake today, here is a look at last weekend’s Open Water students!

This group trained with Barry and Autumn before completing their checkout dives with Enrique. Learning from multiple Scuba Adventures instructors gave them the benefit of different teaching styles and perspectives, all working toward the same goal: helping them become safe, comfortable, and confident divers.
