UF/IFAS Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering graduate program ranks No. 6 in U.S. News & World Report!

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ABE) is ranked number six among the best graduate programs in the country in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The UF/IFAS ABE graduate program is housed within UF/IFAS, and students can earn graduate degrees through the UF/IFAS College of Agricultural and Life Sciences or the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.

The University of Florida is among the 10 public universities on Forbes’ 2026 “The New Ivies” list, which highlights institutions leading the nation in artificial intelligence adoption and preparing students for an AI-driven workforce.
The 2026 list emphasizes how universities are embedding AI across academics, research, and career preparation as employers increasingly prioritize graduates with AI experience and skills.

In addition, UF has significantly expanded its AI-focused faculty, hiring dozens of experts in recent years to advance research and instruction across disciplines, part of a broader trend among leading universities investing heavily in AI talent and programs.

Florida ranks 2nd in U.S. strawberry production🍓

Strawberries remain the most consumed berry in the United States, with average consumption at around eight pounds per person annually. Production is concentrated in California, which accounts for more than 91 percent of the national supply.

Florida ranks as the second-largest producer, with output exceeding 369 million pounds. Florida Brilliance is the main cultivar, representing around 60 percent of the state’s production. The variety was developed for visual quality and pest resistance. The Medallion cultivar, released in 2020, has also expanded in production and is noted for its flavor characteristics.
