Finally the heating, quenching and tempering: bringing the hardness back up to maximum with an oil quench followed by some time in an oven to bring that hardness into a useable range. You may notice some color on the blades, this color is from the tempering process the oxide layer protects the blade, though oiling it periodically is necessary. I expect my knives to be used, and I’d appreciate hearing what you liked and what you would change or even just prefer to be different. My other knives are made using purchased blade blanks, and I create the handles and sheaths for them. I choose nothing but high quality steel like 440c. These knives will serve you well.
