Beyond Ripped:

A few examples of simple exercises that can be performed utilizing an inexpensive set of Tension Bands or no equipment at all—just your brain and muscles! Some of these motions are great Warmups and/or Cooldowns useful for recovery acceleration and injury prevention. For those who have no preference to amount of the resistance, these techniques can be ‘mentally’ applied so muscle contractions actually exceed the ‘tension’ of the tubing — easily adjusted by intentionally sending lighter ‘mental impulses’ to the muscles.

Given the fact that I typically employ high-reps for this type of training, I can add an ‘aerobic’ component as my heart and cardiovascular system remain engaged longer than (say) Conventional weight training with lower # reps. These motions help (me) boost muscular definition without undo stress to my joints. At age 67, these benefits I need to pay attention to.

Here’s another great discovery I stumbled into during my research for…

’’Wolves of Croton — The Untold Story of Milo’

The athletes looked to the heroes of Greek myth as models for their own quests for eternal glory. The most attractive heroic model for a powerful athlete was Herakles. Milo of Croton, a famed Wrestler from antiquity, styled himself after Herakles and imitated him in the Battle of Sybaris. The power, might, and Arete of Milo’s athletic and battle victories provided the justification for his subsequent heroization.”

Milo Vows to Zeus . . .

The Olympiad Games, held in honor of the Pantheon King, Zeus, was to be contested only after each athlete, and their coaches/trainers, had sworn to a list of Olympian Oaths.

Excerpt: “Athletes must vow to uphold the Olympian Oaths and demonstrate their commitment to Agon.”
Excerpt: “Testifying to the Sacred Oaths makes for an irrefutable verbal agreement with Zeus, while upholding the most valuable of human traits — honesty!”
Zeus, the defender of oaths and promises, lends favor to honesty and truthfulness, while lying, or any form of deceit, is regarded as the most nefarious of all violations.

Milo, was obviously ‘held in honor’ by Zeus by his God-given physical abilities and his honesty and integrity as a competitive athlete, and human being.

…And when Milo Commanded his army of inferior numbers against the Sybarites, it is fair to say that Zeus, again, favored Milo, and Croton, against the oath-violators of Sybaris.
