See details below about the ways that you can make a difference in our community today!

Thank you to the City of Pleasant Hill and to all the amazing community volunteers who signed up to work on projects, like planting flowers in Pleasant Hill Park. 🌸🌻🌼

Next week, the City of Pleasant Hill hosts its annual Community Service Day on Saturday, Sept. 19, a chance for everyone in the community to pitch in and make a difference. The City is teaming up with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano to collect new, unexpired, shelf-stable food for families in need.

Here are two easy ways to help:
🚌 Fill the Bus
A Central Contra Costa Transit Authority bus will be parked at Cleaveland and Gregory avenues, near Pleasant Hill Park, from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Drop off your donation and help fill it up.

🛒 Food Drive at Grocery Outlet
The Pleasant Hill Police Department will be collecting donations outside Grocery Outlet (1671 Contra Costa Blvd.) from 9 a.m. to noon.

Remember the sky.
On September 11, 2001, the sky was blue.

At the 9/11 Memorial Museum, artist Spencer Finch’s “Trying to Remember the Color of the Sky on That September Morning” is made up of 2,983 watercolor squares, each a different shade of blue, one for each person who lost their life in the 2001 and 1993 attacks.

For those who remember that day, the details and the shade of blue may be different. For those who came after, the tragic story lives on, so we never forget.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the families and friends left behind, the first responders, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

From first jobs to park jobs, their paths are all a little different, but each one is part of the story that brought them here.

Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District offices will be closed Monday, September 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday and will re-open on Tuesday, September 8.
