GVSU Equestrian Club

The Stock Team Co-Captain is Kayla Ripplinger. She is going into her senior year studying Biomedical Science. This will be her third year on the board, she ran treasurer and fundraising head in years past. Kayla is our only competitor in Open and Reining division. We are all so proud she achieved her goals and is able to help the team. Her love for animals and her teammates shows through in everything she does. She grew up in Ionia, Michigan and is currently living in Ada, Michigan. Kayla cannot wait to help the team achieve greatness and loves bonding with people doing what we all love. If she is not riding she is traveling finding a new adventure.

This year Stock Team Captain is Mackenzie ‘Mack’ Biediger! It is her senior year, majoring in Social Studies and Secondary Education. She competes as one of our Level 1 riders who is motivated to compete at regionals and in ranch riding before she becomes an alumni. Her favorite part of the team is the amount of family she has gained in the past three years and cannot wait to gain more while getting closer to all returning and new members. This is the reason she was voted as captain. Mack grew up in Wolverine Lake, Michigan and has “a strange obsession with sharks and stingrays, maybe the universe wanted me to be a marine biologist.” We cannot wait to see where she will lead the team! Our third and final Zones rider is Baille Zipser! Baille is a sophomore at Grand Valley, so this was her second season on the team! This season, Baille had very consistent rides and placings allowing her to point into Intermediate Flat and Intermediate Over Fences! She ended the season taking 8th in Limit Over Fences at Regionals, and she was Regional Champion in Limit Flat! She had a wonderful season and is looking forward to the next! Way to go, Baille! 💙🐴

Our next Zones rider, is Clara Kissling. Clara is a sophomore at Grand Valley, so this was her second season on the team! As Co-Captain of our team, Clara managed to ride her best and take top placings in most of her classes, while also giving her all to her teammates. She had some very obvious accomplishments from this past season, including High Point Rider at Cedar Lodge, pointing into Intermediate Over Fences and Open Flat, and taking region Champion in both Limit Over Fences and Intermediate Flat. On top of her individual achievements, Clara is extremely proud of how successful the entire team was this season, and can not wait to do it all again next year! Great job, Clara! We’re so proud of you 💙🐴

We are lucky to have such a wonderful group of people and horses on this team! We were all looking forward to cheering on our Zones qualifiers! Luckily, we are still a team and will have the opportunity to cheer each other on next season 💙🐴⚓️

Our first Zones rider is Alexa McVoy! Alexa is a freshman at Grand Valley, so this was her first year on the team! She represented our team as our only open rider for majority of the season, and managed to place in almost every class! Over the course of the season, she really began to learn the catch ride system of IHSA. Her hard work payed off when she qualified for Zones by taking Reserve Champion of the Open Flat division at Regionals. Fantastic work, Alexa!! We look forward to having you with us for the next few years to come! 💙🐴

As many of us know, the rest of the 2019-2020 IHSA season was cancelled. This meant that our riders that worked extremely hard to ride their best at regionals and managed to qualify for zones, didn’t get to compete yesterday in what would have been Zones for Zone 6. In order to give them the credit they deserve, this page will be highlighting each of their achievements for this past season! @ Willowbrooke Farm

With the cancellation of the rest of the IHSA season, we want to congratulate our Semis Qualifiers from the 2019-2020 season. GV EQ is beyond proud, you ladies deserve the recognition👏🏼

The Hunt Team wrapped up the 2019/2020 regular show season this past Sunday! We are ready to take on Regionals at Willowbrooke Farm in Plymouth, MI, on February 29th. Until then, we’d like to wish the Stock Team the best of luck as they compete at Regionals tomorrow! 💙🐴💙
