10 Reasons to keep fit with the World TaeKwonDo Academy.
1. Confidence-While training in the martial arts, I have seen student’s confidence levels increase as they move up through the ranks. And after years of being an instructor I have noticed after they quit, that confidence level goes down. We have had young black belts that have quit, and their parents have all told me the same thing “We wish we would have kept up our TaeKwonDo training.” It’s very tough for an instructor, today people don’t want to hear that they will regret it, they don’t want to listen. When you quit, you will slowly lose many of the benefits it took years to develop.
2. Focus- In our program, some of the students have been training for fifteen years and more. That’s fifteen years of learning how to focus with their eyes, mind, and body. These students are Life Champions. They possess a certain look and sound that other people just don’t have.
3. Self Discipline-Black Belts are self-motivated. In our World TaeKwonDo program, students develop self-discipline before achieving their Black Belts. or Master K. about our Code of The Dragon program. Children will clean their rooms, finish schoolwork, and hold themselves accountable for their actions. These principles are presented as a partnership with Kastelle’s Family Martial Arts Program, Parents, School Teachers and the Kids! Several things in the early stages of training also help teach basic self-discipline, such as tying the belt, getting their attendance card before class, and having their teacher sign the intent to promote sheet before a belt graduation.
4. Self Control-Another key principle taught at the World TaeKwonDo Academy. Students learn how to control their mind and body through Martial arts training. By teaching difficult martial arts techniques and sparring applications the students learn self control. Students are also taught how to control emotions by participating in events such as Sparring, Forms and Breaking Tournaments, Festivals and Demonstrations.
5. Respect-This seems to be the number one reason parents enroll their children in the martial arts. Respect starts as soon as you walk in the door. By bowing Martial Arts students learn to respect Instructors, and the Instructors teach the students that respect is earned not given. The traditional history of the Martial Arts is shared in the advanced classes and individually by student requests.
6. Life Skills- Skills that are taught in our program offer something that you won’t find anywhere else. We are teaching the following life skills principles on a daily basis: work ethic, planning, preparing, leadership training, teamwork, how to network, how to make decisions based on knowledge not emotion.
7. Goal setting -Every day we are teaching students to set a goal, and more importantly we are teaching how to achieve a goal. The belt system is a great way to put into practice how to set goals. It’s very important to start with the end in mind. The ultimate goal of the Martial Arts is the Black-Belt. We aspire to take it to the next level, a quality Black Belt a cut above the others!
8. Character Development-Through martial arts training we teach students that character is all you have at the end of the day. We teach them that your character is developed, and all the principles on the wall are traits that we want to have in our character, and the only way it can happen is to follow the principles every day. Taking part in events with the school the students develop and demonstrate successful character.
9. Leadership-When the children get older they can become an Assistant Instructor. They can assist with classes; help with events, become staff members, and may even eventually open a WTA school. During this leadership training process, children learn how to motivate and inspire others. They learn about time management, how to teach focus, how to greet others, public speaking, dealing with challenges, and how to talk to parents and elders. These lessons are invaluable. Most of the Instructors I know that teach at World TaeKwonDo Academy began when they were children.
10. Black Belt Excellence or Habits-I remember the days before I had a Black Belt. Today, I’m a changed person. I never would have accomplished the things I have without the martial arts. I would never see the sky as my limit without the principles I learned and the training I received through the Martial Arts. The Martial Arts create people who are never satisfied until excellence is achieved. Martial Arts have taught me to fight through challenges where most people would have just thrown in the towel. I’m a fighter with a Black Belt Attitude, and I love TaeKwonDo. Along with the other Instructors at the World TaeKwonDo Academy, we make every effort to give students what we all need…..an edge in life….The WTA Way of Life…..
