Since I started teaching Pilates 5 years ago, I often get asked “What is Pilates?” 🤔
I’ve found that there is not always an easy way to answer this question. But here are a few things that I usually tell people…
Pilates is a low impact method of exercise that works to strengthen your muscles AND improve your posture, flexibility & mobility.
Pilates is a full body workout.
You can do Pilates with or without equipment. At my home studio, I use a tower, mat, spine corrector and smaller apparatus like moon boxes, rings and 2x4 (picture 2). And at Core Sport, we have most of the classical equipment— 3 Reformers, 5 Towers, 1 Cadillac, 3 Chairs, 1 Ladder Barrel, 1 Spine Corretor, 3 Mini Barrels, 1 Pedi Pole, lots of mats and accessories (pictured 3). And yes, I am comprehensively certified to teach on all the apparatus. And, I do 😊.
So if you’re looking for something that helps you move better or your looking for something different or you want to add something to your existing work out routine, then why not try Pilates!

It’s been a while since I introduced myself.
I am Cathy Osburn and I am a Classical Pilates Teacher, Fitness trainer & TRX instructor. During the week, you will find me at Core Sport Pilates Fitness in downtown Plymouth, MI. At Core Sport, I specialize in Pilates in either small group classes or individual sessions and one on one fitness training. If you’d like to build strength, improve flexibility, decrease pain & tightness, and improve overall function, I can help you! I am comprehensively certified through Pure Body Teacher Training (PBTT) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE), and qualified through TRX. I have completed hundreds of hours of training and practice, including obtaining an ACE Sports Performance Specialist certificate. I work with all fitness levels, all ages, all abilities, all pathologies, all considerations, athletes, dancers and more.

Pilates caters to all ages, all fitness types and all body types. Teens, in particular, can benefit from this form of exercise because it helps prevent injuries, develops flexibility, improves coordination & balance, and assists with endurance.
I work with clients of all ages, including teen athletes - dancers 👯♀️, hockey players 🏒, baseball players ⚾️, golfers 🏌️♀️ , etc.
