I talked with the Shoban Tribe today and found out that, historically, the NOP Park concession hasn’t been open during the Shoban Tribe Tournament. Well… that’s not how we do things around here.

We’ll be open and serving food all tournament long!

A huge thank you to the Pocatello Police Department for inviting Modi’s to be part of National Night Out! We had an absolute blast spinning cotton candy and meeting so many incredible families.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say we had the busiest booths of the night. Free fresh spun cotton candy has a way of bringing people over, and because of that, PPD was able to connect with and share important information with hundreds of families who may have otherwise just walked by.

One of the biggest conversations of the evening was about the KNOW ME File. It’s a simple form that gives first responders important information about a person with autism, dementia, developmental disabilities, or other communication challenges during an emergency. Things like communication preferences, sensory triggers, medical information, calming techniques, and emergency contacts help officers, firefighters, EMS, and dispatchers provide the best possible response.

The KNOW ME File is especially meaningful to me because I created it while I was working as a 911 dispatcher. Seeing family after family stop, ask questions, and learn how to sign up honestly meant more to me than I can put into words. Thank you to the Pocatello Police Department for continuing to invest in programs like this and for allowing me to be a small part of sharing them with our community.

It also reminded me why I started offering cotton candy as a service.

This week’s dessert comes with a purpose. Our friend Keri is currently battling Non-Hodgkin’s B-cell lymphoma and undergoing chemotherapy.

For every bag of cotton candy sold, Modi’s Home Plate will donate 100% of the $5 sale directly to Keri and her husband Brian to help ease the financial burden of treatment, travel, and everyday expenses.

As Keri says, “Cancer picked the wrong person. I will beat this.” 💙
