Hello Disc Golfers!
We had a great day 1 up on the mountain! Just want to give some congrats and heads up for tomorrow.
First of all, congratulations to Chris Fox for hitting the ace on hole 16 and to Shawn Christophersen for hitting one on hole 3 as well! Amazing! Chris was in the ace pot which means he wins some cha-ching and we will start a new pot tomorrow. Also, congrats to Kieran Buhler who won the Cash CTP on Hole 7. There is still time for the A Pool to pay in before your round tomorrow for the cash CTP's.
The weather was very manageable and we are expecting it to be a bit cooler tomorrow. There has been some isolated storms moving in everyday. Luckily today's happened after official play was over. Be prepared for a random downpour. It may happen.
Also, a reminder that these courses are physically challenging. Please move through the course at a steady pace so that we can avoid backups. If you know you are not going to make your tee time, please let me know so that we can organize the tee times accordingly. We had a no-show today, and because we had no advance notice it created a 5 person group that caused the round to go an hour or so longer than expected.
Tee Times are up for B Pool round 2! See you all tomorrow!
The North Course will be open for practice today. The South Course will be open after 2:00pm. There is a new trail that goes from South #2's basket to 3's tee pad. Please utilize that during play. It was made to prevent backups since before you had to backtrack on 2's fairway to get to 3.

Hello Disc Golfers!
We are excited to see everyone in the mountains of Pocatello this week for the Portneuf Valley Open! Thank you for signing up. We hope the experience will be fun and challenging!
First and foremost, a huge thank you to Infinite Discs Idaho Rick Smellie and all of the time and effort he has put into getting these courses ready for an A-Tier event. We sometimes take for granted the time it takes to have these kind of facilities available to us. I want to make sure he knows that this has been his baby all along and I am just happy to be asked to help keep it going this year. I personally have been running events at the Nordic Center since 2004, well before there was a permanent course here. It is a fun and unique place to play that can also kick your butt at any time.
Thank you to Infinite Discs and Doomsday Discs for sponsoring the event. Also, thank you to the Pocatello Tourism Office, Dells Appliance, Infinite Discs Tour, and Infinite Discs Idaho for sponsoring this event.
There has been a slight change in the layouts that each divisions plays. The A pool will be playing the South Course Championship Layout on Friday and Sunday instead of just Sunday. The B pool will be playing the South Course Championship layout on Saturday instead of the short blue course. The B pool will still be playing the short blue course on Thursday. No changes on the North Course.
Player’s Packs can be picked up at Infinite Discs Idaho in Pocatello on Wednesday at 355 E Center. There is a $15 gift card in the player’s pack to spend while you are there! After that the players packs will be moved to tournament central at the Nordic Center.
SCORING
Tee times are up at https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/81664 Please check them them again before the end of the day. We have had some last minute signups and they may be tweeked a bit. If you are able to score through your digital device you are welcome to. The access code is “pvo”. You can do that through the PDGA website pdga.com/score, or the PDGA app. We are up in the mountains so service may not be available for some. We have paper scorecards for those who would like them instead.
It is pretty hot up here today but is expected to drop 10 degrees tomorrow. We may have isolated storms coming through. Be prepared because there may be a variety of weather to deal with. We will not have plastic water bottles, but will have plenty of water at the course in jugs so please bring your own water bottle.
There is an optional Ace Pot and Cash CTP events to get some extra ching on the side. If you haven’t signed up for them yet you can do it through the registration tab on Disc Golf Scene or pay in person
PARKING! Please be courteous when parking in the parking lot. If the parking lot is full, you cannot park past the gate but you can park on the south side of the road coming up to the course.
If there are any other questions, please let us know and we will do our best to make this a great weekend for you!
Thank You!
