How has wrestling impacted your life?
It’s impossible to put into words just how much wrestling has impacted my life. Wrestling was more than a sport to me, it was a lifestyle, an identity, and it helped make me who I am today. I don’t know where I would be or who I would be without it.
What advice would you give to younger wrestlers coming up in the sport?
I would tell younger wrestlers that the most important metric in wrestling, and in life, is effort. There are few things you can control in life, but effort is one thing you have complete control over. Your focus shouldn’t be on the gold medal or your record. The most important thing is that you give 100%.

How has wrestling impacted your life?
Wrestling has impacted my life in so many ways. The first is that it has taught me to overcome challenges where many people would simply give up. I love when Ben Kjar says, "Disobey the average." That quote stands out to me because there are many athletes who are good and want to be great, but they have a hard time reaching that level of greatness because they are doing what everyone else is doing. They go to practice and do what they are supposed to do, but it's the extra work before and after practice that really starts to make a difference.
This season especially taught me that lesson. After suffering a setback early in the season, I had to put in double the work to make up for my time away. I have also learned to trust my training. Nerves are normal, but too much nervousness from feeling unprepared is not. If you have put in the time and work, there is no need to be nervous because you have prepared yourself physically and mentally.
What advice would you give to younger wrestlers coming up in the sport?
Take advantage of the time you have now. Don't waste time at practice because, in the end, you might regret it. Most importantly, WRESTLING IS FUN!
Next Chapter?
As I start the next chapter of my life, I plan on serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I will be serving in Calgary, Canada, beginning in July. Once I return, I plan on attending Utah State University and majoring in Agribusiness.
